Bruce Herschensohn does ad for Tom McClintock
California Republican Assembly ^ | Sept. 27, 03 | California Republican Assembly

Posted on 09/27/2003 12:40:33 PM PDT by churchillbuff

I just heard a GREAT radio ad supporting Tom McClintock for Governor. It was Bruce Herschensohn - - California's MR. CONSERVATIVE -- speaking from the heart. An announcement said it was co-sponsored by California Republican Assemply, so I went to their web site - - and here's the official announcement of the Herschensohn ad:

CRA LAUNCHES RADIO CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT TOM MCCLINTOCK FOR GOVERNOR The California Republican Assembly announced today that it was beginning a radio campaign urging support for Tom McClintock in the recall election October 7th. Bruce Herschensohn speaks candidly with listeners in the 60 second spot confronting the argument that although McClintock is the best candidate, he can’t win.

“If everyone who has said that would vote for him he’d win by a landslide,” Herschensohn says. The spot concludes with an appeal from Herschensohn: “If you think he’s the most qualified candidate, support him. At this point, it doesn’t depend on him, it depends on you.”

WHY WON'T ARNOLD SUPPORT THE VOTER REFERENDUM TO REPEAL THE ILLEGAS' DRIVERS LICENSE LAW? Apparently he has said that, instead, he'd ask the Legislature to repeal it. Right, like that would ever happen. THE ONLY WAY TO GET RID OF THIS LAW IS BY BALLOT INITIATIVE. WHY WON'T ARNOLD SUPPORT THAT INITIATIVE?

Hey, how about we three make a vow between ourselves? Whenever we get the masochistic urge to ask "the question," let's ping each other. Then we can keep the thread bumped and read for the others who don't know about Arnold's hard-*** stance on the issue. (Ha.)

And who knows? We might even get an honest, real answer to "the question."
(When pigs fly, that is.)

First off, he won't give ANYONE a chance to even ASK HIM that....he is a coward, secondly I think he WANTS the illegal votes!!!!Third, it is exactly what you would expect from a Demo/Republican candidate!! Busto is better than Arnold. At least he is honest and out in the open. Arnold is a coverup con artist.

I think we can be pretty much assured that the legislature isn't about to repeal SB60. Remember, they passed it in 2001, 2002 and 2003 but Davis vetoed it in 2001 and 2002. Were it not for the recall, I'm sure he would have vetoed it again.

Repeal it - no freakin' way.

BTW, even if it did get repealed (again, when pigs fly), that would be AFTER the issuance of the drivers' licenses to illegals on Jan. 1, 2004.

And just in time for lots of fun and games in the March 2004 elections. Whooopppeeee!

Sounds good to me. Do you think we ought to ping RabidRepublican as well? I'm not sure but he may be keeping score on the number of threads killed by asking "the question". :=)

Please answer my question. PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION. Please answer my question -- there's an initiative to end the illegal drivers license law. WHY WON'T ARNOLD SIGN ON?

I can promise you that if there were an initiative to end PBA or for parental choice, Tom's would be the first signature on it. WHY WON'T ARNOLD JOIN THE INITIATIVE DRIVE TO END THE DRIVERS' LICENSE TRAVESTY? WHY NOT? WHY NOT? Please - PLEASE - help me understand!!!

I'll ping you. But I'm not going to stop asking the question. At Jonestown, I wouldn't have stopped asking why the Cool-Aid smelled funny.

I don't think we know whether the legislature would respond favorable or not. When Grey is gone, and Arnie is in they may see that the people of the state are in no mood for the garbage Grey and they have been pulling; they know they can be thrown out of office too. I think alot will depend on how much Arnold wins by. It the percentage is big enough, that will give Arnold more leverage.

Cool. Come out and play, Rabid.

Oh, and RR? Do YOU have any idea why Arnold refuses to support the REFERENDUM to kill the horrible SB60, which allows drivers' licenses to be issued to illegal aliens on January 1, 2004? For some reason, we can't seem to get any response.

Minor point - It's a referendum, not an initiative.

An initiative creates a new law. A referendum overturns an existing law.

The difference is significant. Unlike an initiative, there is no court review possible for a referendum. In the case of a referendum, if the voters say the law goes, it goes. Period. No court can overturn it.

And I guess you don't care about his gutless stance. As for Tom and PBA legislation - that would be an utter waster of time with this legislature, as big a waste of time as Arnold's plan (as an alternative to the referendum he won't support) for putting the illegal license law back to the Legislature. on either issue, the only way to get change is through the initiative. Tom supports the initiative to get rid of the license law; ARnodl doesn't. That's the bottom line, and it's very interesting that this doesn't bother you. As for PBA and parental consent, you'd also need an initiative and you and I both know that Tom would support it --- but given ARnold's chicken-out on the drivers license initiative, I doubt he'd show any more courage on a PBA initiative !!!

Arnold has clearly and repeatedly stated he is against drivers licenses for illegal aliens. If not addressed directly by the legislature under pressure by our soon-to-be new Republican governor, the pending initiative coupled with pressure from the new governor's office will surely prevail.

If we split the vote and the MECha candidate wins, well, the outcome is not so favorable.

I know. I've used the words interchangably because most freepers don't know the difference and are more familiar with the latter word. Bottom line: ARNOLD WON'T SUPPORT THE ONLY VIABLE WAY FOR GETTING RID OF THE LICENSE LAW. He's a 1) chicken; 2) liberal 3) phoney; or 4) some combination of 1, 2 and 3.

The clock is already running on the referendum. We have a 90-day window to get it qualified. If we can't get it qualified within the 90-day deadline from when it was signed, it's too late.

Why won't Arnold support the effort if he's really so strongly against SB60?

Yes the gutless wonder is whipping your boy 'tock from here to yonder..... I wonder why? Why won't the CA Conservatives support 'tock in something above 30%? Why doesn't the Republican party members support 'tock in something above 30%? 'tock isn't electable so it really doesn't matter what he supports or does as he's not going to have the chance to implement it or propose the legislation. And getting elected is the bottom line to becoming a leader..... 'tock can follow and snip at the heels like a little fiest dog.

Irrevelant is 'tock's middle name now.......

For some strange reason, we are still not getting much response. If I were the suspicious type, I might even think some people didn't want to know or hear about this.

I mean, not that it's important or anything.
