I just heard a GREAT radio ad supporting Tom McClintock for Governor. It was Bruce Herschensohn - - California's MR. CONSERVATIVE -- speaking from the heart. An announcement said it was co-sponsored by California Republican Assemply, so I went to their web site - - and here's the official announcement of the Herschensohn ad:
CRA LAUNCHES RADIO CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT TOM MCCLINTOCK FOR GOVERNOR The California Republican Assembly announced today that it was beginning a radio campaign urging support for Tom McClintock in the recall election October 7th. Bruce Herschensohn speaks candidly with listeners in the 60 second spot confronting the argument that although McClintock is the best candidate, he cant win.
If everyone who has said that would vote for him hed win by a landslide, Herschensohn says. The spot concludes with an appeal from Herschensohn: If you think hes the most qualified candidate, support him. At this point, it doesnt depend on him, it depends on you.

I'm sorry, I'm a new-bee (don't start), I didn't see your follow-up.
Do Illegals have access to more or less benefits in our post-Propositon 187 world?
Are the proponents of "same-sex marriage" better or worse off in the wake of Proposition 22?
The ACLU has got our number. Do you want Driver Licenses for Illegals codified and supported by a Court? Keep it up.
Festina Lente.

Hint: Illegals are getting drivers licenses and the Legislature has pretty much thrown out Prop 22.

Tom is running around with the referendum and the car tax, because he is losing momentum, his candidacy never got traction. At the last convention he got 75% CRA endorsement in a voice vote. Check the CRA site. Now, the CRA is running his adds. Again, check the CRA site. I suspect they'll support him to the win.
Arnold doesn't need to do that. Once he is governor, he can cancel the cartax with a stoke of a pen, the way Davis introduced it. At the debate, Tom said, if Dufoos can sign it, first thing I'll do is unsign it! Your buddie Arnold didn't say a word about it. A lot of voters noticed that as I did way out here in the midwest.

And what do you think is going to happen under Bustamante?
Push the McClintock lever, you are voting for Bustamante.
FACT. Your fantasy intentions don't count, RESULTS count, which will be Gubernador Bustamante.

I saw a reference in another thread a few days ago equating McClintock to a suicide bomber strapping explosives to himself. Sorry to learn that Bruce has joined him. :(

Question: Arnold snidely called anti-affirmative action conservatives "right wing crazies." Can you point me to a single instance where he has attacked in a similar fashion any constituent group that typically votes for Democtrats?

Right on! 'Cause if enough Tom supporters turn out to get Croozzz elected, I get to sell the Casas and drag my family (kicking and screaming) OUT of this State.
Which will be sad, because both my wife and my family's have been 'round these parts since before CA was a State. My family was one of the first (with Serra, one of his "Leathershirts") to come on up and O-press the Indians.
Wait, on second thought, this may what they want!!!! My semi-white guilt is assuaged...

I agree on both counts.

I consider Herschensohn to be the North Star of conservatism. With all due respect to Mr. Herschensohn, what has he done the past 11 years which would warrant considering him "the North Star of conservatism"?

Well said.
>>>We don't need a pro-abortion RINO sitting in one of the most important seats in the party, ready to cause more trouble in 2004 when the big tent Republicans are certain to raise the divisive issue of dropping the pro-life plank, as they regularly do every four years to the delight of the leftist media.
If that happens, the GOP is history. They can kiss their ass goodbye!

If he can't win, why did he come within 20,000 votes of being elected controller? A couple points about McClintock's loss in the Controller's race. 1) He lost to a nobody, a complete political novice. In this race, he's running against two somebodies. 2) There's a big difference between the personal qualities necessary to be a Controller, and those necessary to be a Governor. It's the difference between being the head accountant in a company, versus being the CEO. Tom was born to be State Controller. He doesn't have the personal qualities to be the kind of leader in the Governor's office. His tendency to be a Lone Ranger, politically, is concern enough that he isn't enough of a team player and consensus builder that a governor needs to be.

You're right. They're true blue.
To: TommyUdo
Governor can do a great deal, immediately, by just "not enforcing" the law.
Sorry, but the regs will have been written for DMV employees; the governor can't tell them not to enforce a written law --- he'd be sued, and the courts would order that the law be enforced. Just as if Davis were to say he's "not going to enforce" Prop 13 --- the governor isn't above the law.
No, the best and only way to get rid of this law is referendum - - but Arnold's too much of a chicken - or a phoney - - to sign on.
To: Reagan Man
Arnold opposes partial birth abortion, and favors parental consent. These are two steps in the right direction, and are the most hotly contested abortion issues of the day. This insistent head-in-the-sand blathering that Arnold is a run-of-the-abortionmill pro-abort is a blatant lie.

An Oh so liberal neigborhood seems like a natural for Arnold's signs since he is liberal on every issue that counts: babies, Lavenders, guns, spending, taxes and affirmative action.
