By JENNIFER EMILY / The Dallas Morning News
A Highland Park woman named best dressed by Vogue magazine last year has been arrested on charges of shoplifting nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center, police said.
Brooke Stollenwerck Aldridge, 48, was arrested on the evening of Sept. 15 and released from the Dallas County jail just after midnight, jail records show.
She could not be reached for comment Thursday.
Ms. Aldridge, who was named best dressed in Vogue's July 2002 issue profiling Dallas, is the co-chairwoman of Two by Two for AIDS and Art, a major fund-raiser scheduled for October. Money from the event is split between the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Dallas Museum of Art.
According to a police report, Ms. Aldridge did not pay for a $485 pair of black pants, a $120 Kate Spade wallet and a $1,250 Hermes wallet.
A security officer "personally observed, via [closed-circuit television, Ms. Aldridge] take the ... property and place it in her purse and shopping bag," the report said. Ms. Aldridge "exited the store without paying for the property and was apprehended."
Dallas police charged Ms. Aldridge with theft over $1,500, a state jail felony.
Ms. Aldridge has no previous criminal record, according to the report. She and her husband, Frank M. Aldridge III, 61, own a $1.66 million home in Highland Park, records show.

Agreed. She's obviously a klepto, but a very well-dressed one with excellent taste.

Excuse me?
Just how much ca$h does "Hermes" place in a wallet that one would pay $1,250.00 for it.
Oh ....... I'm sorry. She didn't pay for it.
Seems the old "I was incensed at the price" plea would work here.

I'm sure this was only a desperate measure to feed her starving children, since George Bush cut off their benefits...

Possibly, but nobody walks into Neiman Marcus looking for Wal Mart prices. Their price tags could cause cardiac arrest for the faint of heart.
Ms. Aldridge, who was named best dressed in Vogue's July 2002 issue profiling Dallas,
She was doing it for Dallas. She had a reputation for style, and she had to keep up somehow!

Does the perp have a job? A hubby?
Can you imagine getting a call from your spouse, "Honey, I was arrested for shoplifting at Neiman Marcus."

OMG! Any of you out there not familiar with Dallas & the Highland Park mystique, might not realize how utterly HUGE this is. This woman might as well ask for the death penalty from the state because that is what she is going to get from her Highland Park sisters. (i'm howling with laughter)

I did a google search on her name last night. Seems she comes from a wealthy lumber family. Her mother is a huge socialite. Kleptomania is a horrible disease you know. Bets anyone?

It's fairly obvious her "shrink" [ don't all the wealthy use them?] couldn't cure her.
Perhaps the fact that she is no longer a young, and sexy thing, she needed some notoriety?
BTW ....... leave Wal-Marts out of this!
I happen to buy only "Chicom" goods. They don't last long, but you can find them anywhere.
