Why haven't I seen the term "Bush-hater" used by the media? The left is spewing more hatred at Bush than even the right did to Clinton.

God placed enmity in the heart of all men towards the serpent. That's enough justification for my despisal of Clinton.

If you think Nixon deserved to go down, then so too did Clinton.

Can't be said too often.

The two chief differences:

1. The press would never have stopped hounding Nixon. His entreaties to "move on" would have perpetually fallen on deaf ears.

2. Nixon actually had a shred of decency, and therefore had the shame to resign. Clinton does not have nor has never had any decency. He is the most corrupt, fraudulent, dishonest man ever to occupy the White House.

There is one thing I wonder about. If a Republican politican had had his law licence pulled, or some other objective punishment for a crime, it would be mentioned in every single article about him the rest of his life. But we never hear it about Clinton - never. I know the press is biased, but wouldn't you think they would throw it in every now and then to try and maintain some figleaf of pretended objectivity?

Great post, veronica.

This Bret Stephens (of whom I have never heard before) is a problem, in that he illustrates perfectly how the leftist media elites foisted Clinton upon us. He also helped Clinton promulgate the view that we should back the Bosnians and Albanians against the Serbs.

It's terrific that he realizes some of the error of his previous ways. But by not taking any responsibility for Clinton, I find his piece most insincere.

He said all this in a hoarse and mournful and significant tone of voice. I wanted to puke."

Sometimes the retching of the kool aid drinkers is more convincing than all the patient explainations of those who could see thru Clinton from the begining..

My arguments were, first, that Clinton was good for Israel . . .

I suspect that this is precisely why there is so much anti-Israeli sentiment among many conservatives. The notion that someone should vote for a presidential candidate (and a depraved, dysfunctional one at that) just because he is "good for [fill in the name of any country other than the United States]" is one of the most idiotic trends I've ever seen in politics.

The fact that this was the first item in his list is even more telling.

I bet Jerry Park's relatives hate Clinton for entirely different reasons.

Which conservatives would that be? Tom DeLay? Ralph Reed? Cal Thomas? George Will?

Or do you mean the paleo-cons? Pat Buchanan. Joe Sobran, etc., i.e. the fringe...

Here's the real problem with the Clinton-Lewinsky affair:

What if, instead of sending those tapes to Ken Starr, Linda Tripp had shopped them around to the Chinese, the Saudis, the Iraqis or any other adversary of the US? How much money do you think Linda Tripp could have made peddling those tapes to our enemies?

Clinton is on record as saying that he would have done "anything" to keep the Lewinsky dalliance a secret. We knoe what he was capable of when it came to preserving his own political interests.

So to what extent would he have been willing to compromise national security (I mean, further than he already had) in order to placate foreign blackmailers?

I forget the name of the big-media Clinton apologist who wrote a book defending Clinton against the so-called "attack" by Ken Starr. But one day he was a guest on a local talk show. I called in and asked him this question. His answer: "That's just hypothetical." Of course, the risk that Monica would have blabbed to Linda Tripp and had it recorded was just hypothestical too, until it happened.

The Lewinsky affair was a colossal risk to national security, and it is high time that people recognized it. "Just about sex?" I don't think so.

How about a solid 20% of the posters here on FR?

George Washington was once considered part of "the fringe," too.

While I am not a member of the media, I have started to use the terms "Bushphobia" and "Bushnoia" to when describing some of the "Bush-haters", as some of them sound like mental cases...

Well, to be fair, this column did appear in the Jerusalem Post.

From my observation, a very small number of Freepers, much, much smaller than 20%, are anti-Israel. You obviously are among them.

That should read:

While I am not a member of the media, I have started to use the terms "Bushphobia" and "Bushnoia" when describing some of the "Bush-haters", as some of them sound like mental cases...

Also, other forms of the words: Bushphobic, Bushphobe, Bushnoid, etc...

I watched the old Andy Griffith movie "A Face In The Crowd" last night. It's about a low-rent sleazeball from Arkansas who becomes the most powerful man in America. Mike Wallace makes a cameo. It was made about 1958.

The ONLY reason he can find to hate Clinton is that Clinton didn't jump more enthusiastically into that Bosnia mess?

Clinton is the ultimate career politician, a great reason for term limitations. Everything he did and said was to further his own political career. Nothing else mattered to him.
