A federal judge dismisses a case in which a small Wisconsin software maker claimed features in Microsoft Office infringed on its patents.

A federal judge has dismissed a patent infringement case against Microsoft.

Judge Barbara Crabb of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin issued the ruling Wednesday in response to Microsoft's request for summary judgment in a case bought by Hyperphrase Technologies, a small Madison, Wis.-based software maker. Hyperphrase claimed that Smart Tags technology included in recent versions of Microsoft's Office productivity software infringed on patents HyperPhrase was granted relating to data storage and retrieval methods.

These so-called "EXPERTS" from CCIA are lobbyists for Sun, AOL, Oracle, and other Microsoft competitors. The "study" that they cite is a paid infomercial on behalf of those competitors.

No, it's really national security. The "CIA" in CCIA is a dead giveaway.

What you never tell us is LINUX is not a US Product. It originated in Socialist Europe. And it is controlled by people who make France look Like a friend of the USA.

If you want to put America in real danger put control of its computer operating systems in the hands of European Socialists.

Only someone who is in favor of the USA becoming a minor cog in the European Union would support a transition to LINUX.

Care to list some of these people? Of course your ignorance is already showing since you think that there is some group of communist conspirators that controls Linux.

Only someone who is in favor of the USA becoming a minor cog in the European Union would support a transition to LINUX.

Only someone who is speaking out their ass thinks that a bunch of European socialists controls Linux. Much of the R&D that goes into Linux and related projects comes from the United States. Hate to break it to you, but if anyone will be doing the transitioning to Linux it'll probably be IBM.

The problem for you is I wrote part of Linux. I know damned well who does most of the code.

And it sure as hell is not in the USA.

The first name I will start with IS LINUS TORVALDS..

Would you like to tell me what Socialist Europeaan Nation LINUS resided in and was a citizen of when he wrote LINUX and named it after himself?

From Linux.Org

Linux is an operating system that was initially created
as a hobby by a young student, Linus Torvalds, at the
University of Helsinki in Finland. Linus had an
interest in Minix, a small UNIX system, and decided to
develop a system that exceeded the Minix standards. He
began his work in 1991 when he released version 0.02
and worked steadily until 1994 when version 1.0 of the
Linux Kernel was released. The current full-featured
version is 2.4 (released January 2001) and development
   continues.

And here is how Finland's web site describes its social welfare system... NOTE IT IS UNIVERSAL AND GUARANTEED SOCIALISM

 Social Welfare in Finland

Statistical background data 1998

•Finnish wage and salary earners’ average (gross)
earnings for regular working hours were 1,899 euro (FIM
   11,300)/ month.

•Households’ disposable income per capita was 11,412
   euro (FIM 67,900)

This brochure is available in English, Finnish and
Swedish. It may be reproduced freely.

1 Social welfare as a component of social protection
Finnish legislation guarantees the basic economic,
social and education rights of every resident of
Finland. Public administration – the State and local
government – must ensure that these basic rights are
achieved. From the perspective of social policy, the
right to comprehensive social protection is among
the most fundamental basic rights. Social protection
encompasses pension and other income security, and
      social welfare.

As to its core principles, the Finnish social
protection system – of which social welfare is one
component – is built on the Nordic welfare model.
The central features of the Nordic welfare state are:

      • the principle of universality

       • a strong public sector tax funding

      • citizens’/residents’ rights are grounded in
      legislation

      • equal treatment

      • social benefits of a relatively high level.

All members of society have a statutory right to
social welfare in accordance with need. The principle
of universality is an essential aspect of determined
striving to maintain and to increase equality in
society. Inclusion of all citizens within the sphere
of services and social income transfers is, in
     addition, an economically sustainable solution.

The State plays a relatively strong role with regard
to steering in setting the core principles of social
welfare and to monitoring the implementation of
these. However, organisation of social welfare takes
place mainly at the local level in municipalities.
Indeed, the social welfare provided by municipalities
is a key element of the social protection system in
the Nordic welfare model. The sector is financed
primarily out of the taxes collected by the State and
     by local government.

The man who holds the copyright on the core of LINUX is a Socialist.. from a Socialist Nation and so are most of the LINUX Developers.

I dropped out of writing LINUX code in 1999 when I discovered just how liberal leftist and socialist those controlling its development are.

Do the words "open source" have meaning for you? It's rather impossible to control open source systems, that's why Bill Gates likes his just the way it is.

Being married to a Finnish women... visiting Finland... and immersed in the Finnish culture... I say that you are painting them with a mighty broad brush. Plus the fact that Linux is open-source should quell any of your fears about the evil finns using their Nokia phones to crack into our national defense system.

So what. Many of the 911 hijackers lived in the United States for awhile. Does that somehow make them more "American"?

That's a bit naive. People tend to move in the direction of a single distribution channel for efficiency reasons. RedHat is currently the most used distribution of Linux. China is developing their own distribution (RedFlag Linux) -- and IBM is helping them do it. With more of the world's population using RedFlag Linux than any other distribution, it can in fact become the leader. And frankly, China does not contribute back to the so-called Linux "community". It will use that competitive advantage to wrest more and more control over technology from western nations -- until the United States is just another backwater player. This isn't just a pipe dream for a bunch of Mao-jacketed Communists. They're actively stoking IBM and other Linux players in order to move development to China, using the carrot of future sales. So, while you think that you will have control over open source systems, the reality is that over time, you will lose.

Smart Tags allow document creators to include links to information in other documents or Web pages.

DDE, Publish and subscribe, HTTP, RDBMS? HyperPhrase is on the wrong side of this one.

No comparison was intended. The point was that simply living in the United States doesn't make you an American -- or sympathetic to American values. There are plenty of people who live here who would love to see this country run into the ground.

India is set to overtake China in population before long so who is this "more of the world's population" you're talking about? The Indians aren't going to go RedFlag or anything else Chinese.

But wait. Earlier it was European Socialists controlling Linux that were to be feared. Now we're on the other side of the globe. What's the next big bad Linux scare gonna be; little almond-eyed greenies from you-know-where?

Naive, you say?
