"We got Major movement at Yellowstone Lake, and Madison." Holy Moly. Keep an eye on this for us, please. If This thing blows....an 8.0 quake will look like child's play.

Tsunami 1 foot tall? Do they grow from that point? From what I understand from watching specials on tidal waves is that they start out very long and not high at all. As they come to shore, the water obviously gets shallower and as a result all of this water is forced to rise up. Whoever knows more about his please chime in.

The Lake readings going nuts, right now...

Hmm...it's difficult to tell the scale from that seismograph. This could just be it reading the Japanese quake, after a normal delay, or it could be normal-scale seismic activity.
Are you nearby? Do you feel anything?

Wow. I hope this doesn't become a Kodiak moment.
Talk about an obscure geographical Aleutian!

Tsunami 1 foot tall? Do they grow from that point? Yes -- out in the deep ocean, tsunamis are barely a ripple. When the wave motion reaches shallower water, it "humps up", because, at the risk of oversimplifying things, the wave energy has nowhere else to go but up, since it doesn't have a deep water column to resonate in.
It's just a vastly larger version of "regular" wave action. Watch the waves at the beach sometime -- they start out as low swells, then rise up and crest as they near the beach.

Thought you would want to see this. Also the fact that yellowstone just reacted with a big burp.

I remember seeing some documentary footage of a tsunami that hit Hawaii that can't have been much taller than a foot or two.....but it just kept coming - up the beach, through the harbour, into the coastal towns, up the streets, through the houses...
