When my husband answers the phone I can almost always tell who he is talking to by his mannerism and the different tone his voice has depending on who he is talking to.

If Scott did get the call from Amber I can just imagine his tone and mannerism was so different that Laci would have had lots of suspicion.

I am still of the feeling though that Amber and Laci talked but I guess we will never know.

Well, at the risk of sounding very old-fashioned, isn't it also possible that Scott picked up one "land line" telephone at the house, and maybe Laci did the old wife's trick of quietly listening in on the other extension?
