Scott Peterson exchanged at least 18 telephone calls with his girlfriend in the nine days before his pregnant wife disappeared, according to partial phone records. He also received at least 47 calls from Amber Frey to his cell phones in the three weeks after authorities believe he killed his wife and their unborn son, the records reveal.

All 65 calls -- totaling more than 3 1/2 hours -- were made at a time when Scott Peterson insisted that he didn't have a girlfriend.

Two of them came on New Year's Eve, the day more than 1,000 people attended a commun-ity candlelight vigil for the missing Laci Peterson.

Frey made more than 50 calls to police starting Dec. 30. Some of those calls were made after police were authorized to tap Peterson's phones, and court documents show the wiretaps picked up a call between Frey and Peterson as late as Jan. 20.

Frey figures to be an important prosecution witness in the high-profile case and has been protected by private guards.

Frey was not the only woman with whom Scott Peterson had an affair with, a source said. He had at least one other girlfriend during his five-year marriage, the source said.

The phone records reflect only a portion of the calls between at least four phones known to be used by Frey and Peterson.

The 30-year-old fertilizer salesman has pleaded innocent to murder charges. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Frey, 28, has said she met and started dating Peterson in November, not knowing he was married.

The phone records from Dec. 14 to Jan. 14 also reveal that:

Frey, a Fresno massage therapist, called Modesto police at 1:43 a.m. Dec. 30. The call lasted 22 minutes. On Jan. 28, when Frey went public about her romantic involvement with Peterson, she cited the pivotal Dec. 30 call.

She made the call immediately after receiving two calls, starting at 1:24 a.m.

In the next three weeks, Frey exchanged at least 48 calls with Modesto police Detective John Buehler. She also called the phones of police Detectives Phil Owen and Al Brocchini twice each.

Frey's attorney said she has cooperated with investigators, who tapped at least two of Peterson's cell phones.

Authorities had an affidavit sealed Jan. 22 for a "search warrant for Scott Peterson's phone records," a Stanislaus County Superior Court order shows. It is unclear whether investigators executed the search warrant for the phone records.

But court documents show that authorities did use a search warrant May 28 in connection with the case for toll and subscriber information from five telecommunications companies: AT&T Wireless, Nextel, Cingular, Sprint and SBC. The companies provided investigators with dozens of pages of information, according to court documents.

Most of Frey's calls to Scott Peterson lasted five minutes or less. Only one, on Jan. 7, was longer; it lasted 100 minutes.

Frey and Peterson called each other an average of two times daily in the week before Laci Peterson was reported missing Christmas Eve. There were at least four calls on Christmas as media descended on Modesto to cover the disappearance. On Dec. 26, while volunteers combed the Petersons' La Loma neighborhood and a park, the number of calls shot up to 14. All calls were made between 3 and 9 p.m.

Frey put in two calls, on Jan. 10 and 14, to a volunteer search center based at Modesto's Red Lion Hotel. It is not known whether she spoke to volunteers or Scott Peterson, who regularly visited the center.

Peterson apparently spoke to Frey on the phone only once on Dec. 23, the day his wife vis- ited her doctor. Laci Peterson accompanied her husband that day to have his hair cut by her sister. Authorities have said they believe Laci Peterson was killed later that day or the next day.

On the day a judge agreed to let police tap Peterson's calls, Frey spoke with him at least twice. She called Buehler's phone number eight times that day. Frey hasn't spoken to the media, aside from the initial news conference revealing the affair and another staged by Gloria Allred, her Los Angeles attorney.

Allred declined Wednesday to comment on specifics surrounding her client's phone conversations with Peterson.

MODESTO -- A broker of photos for men's magazines has posted nude photos of Amber Frey on his Web site, and the Fresno massage therapist has talked with her attorney about suing him.

The broker, David Hans Schmidt, said he bought the photos and release rights from a Fresno photographer earlier this year. The Web site, where Schmidt charges $19.95 for access, came to light Wednesday.

Attorney Gloria Allred, who is representing Frey as she prepares to be a witness in the Scott Peterson double-murder case, said her client has never relinquished rights to the photos.

Allred said her job is to defend Frey from attacks on her credibility that may come from Peterson's defense team and elsewhere.

Allred called the Web site "disgusting and an attempt to exploit Amber simply because she may be an important witness in a high-profile murder case."

"We have advised Amber of all of her legal rights against Mr. Schmidt and anyone who is involved in the sale and distribution of her images, and she will seriously consider her legal options," Allred said in a written statement released Wednesday.

When reached by phone, Allred declined to say what options were discussed or whether Frey would sue Schmidt.

"I hope she sues," Schmidt said Wednesday while traveling in New York. "You can print that. I hope she sues me."..........

The other woman in the Laci Peterson murder investigation was fully exposed yesterday - after a Web site started charging $19.95 for more than two dozen racy pictures of her.

Web site operator David Hans Schmidt posted 27 pictures of Amber Frey, 28, a massage therapist who had a fling with murder suspect Scott Peterson.

The photos were taken in 1999, Schmidt said.

"She responded to a local ad for nude models," said the Internet entrepreneur.

Frey is involved in the mystery surrounding Laci Peterson, a pregnant Modesto, Calif., woman who vanished last Christmas Eve.

Her body and the remains of her unborn child washed ashore near San Francisco in April, leading to Scott Peterson's arrest........

Peterson Informer Convinces Ex-Cop

Peterson Informer Convinces Ex-Cop

Wednesday, September 24, 2003

The inmate who claims he overheard double murder suspect Scott Peterson (search) talking about kidnapping his wife Laci convinced the ex-cop who gave him a polygraph test that he is telling the truth, the officer told Fox News in an exclusive interview.

Lt. Melvin King (search) told Fox News' Geraldo Rivera Wednesday that he was skeptical of inmate Cory Lee Carroll's (search) story at first, but changed his mind after their two-hour session.

"Mr. Carroll was able to convince me that he truly believes what he's saying has some validity to it," King said.

King, who has dealt with numerous inmate witnesses in the past, said they typically ask to cut some sort of deal for a plea bargain. But Carroll was different, he said.

"He was just the opposite," King told Fox.

Peterson, 30, is accused of killing his wife Laci Peterson, 27, and unborn son, Conner.

Carroll, a self-described petty property criminal, told investigators he first met Peterson last November at the City Lights strip club in Fresno, Calif...........

Rift Grows Wider In the Peterson Case

Rift Grows Wider In the Peterson Case

POSTED: 11:18 a.m. PDT September 26, 2003
UPDATED: 11:25 a.m. PDT September 29, 2003

MODESTO, Calif. -- The rift between the two families involved in the Laci Peterson murder case grew even wider Friday with the filing of a civil suit that sought to prevent her husband and accused murderer, Scott Peterson, from profiting from the high profile case.

In the action filed with the Stanislaus County court, the Rocha family asked for a preliminary injunction that would require any money received for by Scott to go into a protected trust.

Peterson Case Special Section

Those funds would go to the Rocha family if Peterson were to be found guilty and could not be used to pay for his defense team headed by well-known attorney Mark Geragos.

The order sought by Laci Peterson's family would prevent Scott Peterson from "expending, disbursing, transferring or other wise utilizing such incomes, funds or assets without the express authorization of the court."

The court action is the latest outward sign of the huge rift that has evolved between the two families.

Months ago, after a request to go to the house that Laci and Scott Peterson owned in Modesto was refused by his parents, the Rochas and friends of the family broke into the home and removed several items including a rocking chair, baby's furniture and other cherished family memorabilia.

On Sept. 2, Scott Peterson parents -- Lee and Jackie Peterson -- were extremely critical of the fact they were not invited to a private funeral where Laci and her unborn son, Conner's, remains were laid to rest.

In an email obtained by KTVU to Sharon Rocha, Jackie Peterson wrote: "The past eight months fill the most difficult moments in all our lives. Arriving soon will be more trying times for all of us. We are dismayed at the failed efforts of Judge Giolami to close the coming hearing. Our effort to do so centered on keeping the press from exploiting the lives of Laci and Conner."

"Scott is brokenhearted over not being able to protect his family on that fateful day in December and now again not being able to protect the memories of Laci and Conner."

The lawsuit was filed hours after famed defense attorney Gerry Spence said he has his doubts that Peterson can get a fair trial in the wake of several media leaks including a Modesto Bee article published this week detailing phone calls between the Modesto fertilizer salesman and his former mistress, Amber Frey.

Spence, appearing on KTVU's Mornings On 2 on Friday, said the concept of a fair trial in any case -- especially high-profile ones like the Peterson murder case -- in the current media environment is a modern myth.

It sure does! If only it didn't seem to depend solely on this Frank Muna... sometimes I think he is just getting his 15 minutes of fame.

And they may well be able to place Scott at the proper locations, at the proper times, and may be able to place Skeeter and Dirty (and Carroll) there at the right times. I mean, it all could have happened pretty much as Carroll says, with the one difference being that maybe Scott never followed through in hiring those guys.

And if that's the case, it doesn't even matter--talk about showing Scott's state of mind at the time, as well as evil intentions!

And look: the article says Scott and Amber talked by phone at least twice on Dec. 24. I WISH they'd tell us when those calls were!! If those calls were before he "got back home", then seems to me they can trace where he was when he made/received them!! I mean, one thing we're sorely lacking is evidence of where Scott really was for that whole day--actually, lacking evidence of where Scott was ANY time between his haircut on the 23rd, and the time he showed up at the first neighbor's house on the 24th, "looking for Laci".

Thanks for the article! I saw Allred and Fox News's Stan Goldman discussing this on TV. Goldman said he thought Sharon didn't have a chance of enjoining Scott from transferring/disposing of funds, b/c it was too "speculative" at this time; Allred, OTOH, said she thought Sharon had a good chance of getting an injunction right now. In the end, Goldman seemed to be partially persuaded to Allred's point of view on this.

And of course the important point was made that, as of now, "Son of Sam" laws are pretty much ineffective.

I completely agree with you and Devil re Scott's infantilism/narcisissm. Laci at some point after finally becoming preg was no longer providing the constant focus and adoration Scott "needed" after Mommie Dearest. So he sought it elsewhere, in his strip clubs and massage parlors. And then Amber provided it. I bet he needed his "passy" [pacifier = Amber] a lot around the time of his Big Chore. He couldn't stop calling then!

Yaelle, I didn't know you weren't pinged, I'd have sent the thread in the freepmail, lol!

Yes, something about the baby, or something about her being pregnant, seems to have made him act when he did.

All we heard, at the beginning, was how perfect their marriage looked, about how "great" a couple they were, etc., etc., etc., yada yada YADA! I believed that stuff, when I first read about this case!

How could everyone have been so wrong?? But they sure were!

They talked about how Laci took a long time to get pregnant. I know she had lost one ovary, but it is a fact that the ovaries alternate which one ovulates from month to month, and when one is gone, the other one takes over and ovulates every month. And the loss of one wouldn't, it seem, have an effect, without more. (My aunt with the five children had only one.)

I am beginning to think that the real reason Laci had so much trouble getting pregnant was that she couldn't get Scott to stay home long enough to get her that way! He certainly appears not to have wanted children!

Dev - I honestly think that SP's continually calling Amber was more of a controlling issue rather than a "love" issue. He KNEW that Amber KNEW a lot. He was attempting, in a very manipulative manner, to control WHAT she found out and when.!! I can't believe that Peterson EVER really loved ANY woman.

Christmas day was the 1st day Laci's missing flyers were posted. The Rocha/Grantski's families also visited the Covena Ave home. Accoring to Brent Rocha the family did not open gifts.Christmas day was also the last day the Peterson home was used for the volunteer effort. It then moved to the Red Lyon Hotel. Who and where was the comment made that while the family was there, Scott was busy vacuuming?

Gosh, Mags, somewhere on a Laci thread at FR, but are you gonna make me research it? There was a good bit of discussion and laughter over that one, IIRC.

Are you sure Maggie that the Rocha's and Grantski's were at the Covena Avenue house? I seem to recall that when they took the furniture by storm that day, that THAT was the first time they had gone back to Laci's house (with the exception of Amy with the Police) since she disappeared. I do recall SOMEBODY saying that Scott vacuumed and mopped but I cannot recall who.

This is from the findlaci website posted by herus. Titled,"Scott required Police To Get A Search Warrant".I am quoting from that page.
"We just want my sister home safe," Peterson's sister, 21-year-old
Amy Rocha, said early Thursday while posting fliers along Scenic Drive.
The first fliers went up Christmas Day. The family did not open gifts,
relatives said."Christmas is over for us," said Brent Rocha, Peterson's
brother. "We all feel empty and want our sister returned."

Sources: Several Theories on Laci's Death

Snip it:

"Sources tell Fox News that the 27-year-old woman could have been beaten, hit over the head, strangled or even poisoned.

They believe she was killed in her house on Dec. 23, the night before her husband, Scott Peterson (search), reported her missing. The autopsy results, which could determine the exact cause of death, are expected in about two weeks.

Several pieces of evidence point to possible attempts by Peterson to cover up foul play, sources said.

They point out that various chemicals were found on the mop he possibly used to clean the kitchen floor on Dec. 24, even though a cleaning maid had visited the house Dec. 23. Peterson told investigators the maid only finished cleaning half of the floor, but the maid has denied that to police.

Moreover, sources said Peterson vacuumed the living room on Dec. 24, in addition to washing his clothes. He told police his clothes smelled from fishing. But sources say his fishing gear did not appear "used" and that Scott wasn't in the habit of cleaning his own clothes – he'd always left them for his wife.

Investigators are still searching for missing items they believe belong to Scott: a 55-gallon drum, for which he had a receipt, but whose disappearance he could not explain; several large, cement blocks; several fishing weights; and fishing hooks.

Sources say those items could be on the floor of the San Francisco Bay, where Laci Peterson's body was found. The body of her unborn son was also discovered on the bay’s shore."
