I just don't know what to think for sure at this point but here is some of my thinking.

If Scott did pre-meditate killing Laci I think it is very likely he would have tried to or did hire someone to kill her as he would not want to get his hands dirty doing the actual killing.

On the other hand if Laci found out about Amber that night there could have been a big argument that led Scott to murdering her in a fit of rage.

Laci's interest would not go to SP if he was found guilty but he would retain his half interest. So instead of sharing a grandson, the Rochas and Petersons would be sharing the house that he and Laci were killed in. It won't be pretty.

That is really awful. That's one dumb law if you ask me. Laci, dead or alive, was the joint owner of the property. I don't understand why her half would not vest to her estate. Not pretty is right.

Her half WOULD go to her estate (Rochas, presumably) if SP was found guilty. Even if he gets off, I bet they go to civil court (civil,lol) to stop him from touching her half pending a wrongful death suit.

So the way I figure it they have until April 1995 to file something. SP on the stand will be interesting. I'm sure he'll testify in the criminal trial, too."

Thank you! I'm sure he wants to testify at the criminal trial, just as he felt compelled to give all of those interviews last year. This would be a complete disaster for the defense!

You're right. So far, this judge sounds really good. The sad part is this judge will hear the preliminary, but it's sure to be a different judge hearing the trial. But, there's still hope that they have more than one decent judge in that county. Since many of the voters there seem to be sensible, I'm betting on it.

On Geraldo tonight, I heard Geraldo asserting that Amber talked to Scott on the phone ON Christmas. Anyone else hear that? Allred was on, only to say she couldn't confirm or deny that (and b/c she likes to be on TV, even when she's barred from making any meaningful statement whatsoever.)

It just boggles my mind that Scott called Amber up and probably said something like "Merry Christmas, baby!" Which I am sure he probably did. I mean, imagine his doing that the very day after Laci "went missing". Imagine his doing that EVEN if he didn't have a thing to do with Laci's death.

Rita Crosby said earlier today that SP Called Amber around 8AM ON XMAS MORNING.

Amber should have some really good scoop on how SP was acting and his frame of mind right after Laci's disapearance. I'm sure it will be used to help bolster the pre-meditation case.

Sorry for all the posts in a row, but Rita said that in face SP talked with Amber 4 times on xmas day. Sure sounds like a concerned hubby and soon to be father to me;)

Oh I don't think Scott is terribly stupid he just has a very distorted view of his own abilities/characteristics in relation to others. I agree detectives see this all the time and they were likely pushing his buttons (big time). For instance, he may have planned to stay away from Amber for awhile but with the police attacking/questioning him he had to have some psychological comfort.

I'd like to know just what is on the tapes of the phone conversations he had with Amber.

Drjulie, I can see where logically Scott may indeed have decided he'd better stay away from his treasure (Amber) for a while, for cover. But it certainly does appear that his intentions of doing so didn't last long--if he called her at 8 a.m. on Christmas morning! What a total emotional infant he must be. Can't keep his cool, can't defer the gratification of talking to his honey (or perhaps in his mind, his new "mommy") even for one full day!
