"...I am a big fan of Tony's op-ed pieces on the California Members' Council list. He rivals anyone in the country in his ability to ferret out the true nature of the American establishment, whether it be political, jounalistic, or judicial. Congratulations to NRAMembersCouncils.com in attracting such good talent!..."

"...Cruz could have done better.."

      -California Democrat Party Chair
       Art Torres, on the performance
       of Cruz Bustamante during the
       September 24 Candidate's Debate,

To All,

Actually, Cruz's poaching from the Goron Playbook is about as good as it gets. After all, what candidate in his right mind would try to redirect Arianna "The Mad Greek" Huffington towards his erstwhile boss, Wile E. Graydavis, over spending "cuts" that were allegedly enacted during his tenure:

After watching the Great California Recall Debate, one comes away with a variety of opinions.

For example, both Republican candidates demonstrated a competence that was sorely lacking amongst their opposite numbers on the other side of the dais. One even senses the tentative beginnings of rapprochement, though it may require several days of polling before the next move is evident.

As for those to the "left" of the moderator (if that is possible), one can easily come away with the impression that George Orwell is alive and well on the Socialist side of the political spectrum in California.

For example, it may be that Peter Camejo cannot distinguish between "progressive marginal tax rates" and "proportion of income" in his declaration that the rich pay less in taxes than the "poor". In addition, Señor Camejo has probably not witnessed the southerly migration of Canadian National Health subscribers in their monthly attempts to get medical services that are otherwise rationed north of the St. Lawrence Seaway. And, lastly, Mr. Camejo would probably not be so quick to advocate a takeover of pension funds "by the people" if he was a tad more familiar with the "hedge" activity that CalPERS engaged in with Enron just before the Great Fall (CalPERS at least got their profits out of their Enron deals. That is more that can be said by a whole lot of seniors and other coupon clippers caught up in the collapse of the energy trader).

As for Arianna...
