The President’s Re-election Prospects Have Nearly Disappeared
Varied Internet sources, via Google ^ | 9/25/03 | Coop

Posted on 09/25/2003 6:59:03 AM PDT by Coop

Why?

-We’re engaged in a long-term war against an enigmatic enemy, with no end in sight

-American military members are suffering and dying at the hands of terrorists on foreign soil

-The media makes a concerted effort to only portray the President in a negative light

-The President’s job approval numbers are well under 60%, with just over a year left until the election

-The President scores well under 50% on polls asking if he should be re-elected

-The economy is struggling to emerge from a recent recession

-Defense spending is way up

-Budget deficits are a serious concern

-National unemployment is over 6%

-The Democrats have assembled a formidable, diverse group of contenders that criticize the President constantly, including one quote: "If [our soldiers] were sent there to fight, they are too few. If they were sent there to die, they are too many."

Good post!

After reading in The Oklahoman this morning about the democRAT debate last night, it hit me -- the liberal media is helping sponsor these pseudo debates so that the DemocRATs can attack President Bush and his Administration.

This is the quote that jumped out at me from Dean --

"Nobody here deserves to be compared to Newt Gingrich. ... We need to remember that the enemy here is George Bush, not each other."

This whole debate structure for the DemocRATs is nothing more than giving them a national stage in which to bash Bush to bring down his poll numbers. They don't care about this Country and what their comments are doing to the morale of our troops -- they are Clinton DemocRATs and only care about regaining their power!

IMO people need to quit wringing their hands and using the "sky is falling" approach to the 2004 election. A healthy dose of reality is needed -- it is going to be very nasty campaign and we cannot let the liberal media and the DemocRATs get us down. We are going to have to fight and fight hard like we did in 1984 for Ronald Reagan to insure that President George W. Bush is given a 2nd term to continue to clean up the mess left by Clintons and his minions in all facets of Government!

Amen to that. I'm already quite fired up over the behavior of the media and the national Democrats.

The only way conservative principles will come back is to remove the radical leftists out of office and not put them in position where they can entitle 20 million more people and put a nail in our coffin.

Isn't that what GWB is doing with his free pill shennanigans? If you are serious about getting rid of leftists from office, you can start with W. What we need is a full-scale revolt and primary challenge to W, so we can hold his feet to the fire and make him renounce the Marxist lunacy. You can't do that with people like you defending his every move based on the argument that not to do so will help get someone worse elected. Doing that just ensures that conservatism will lose out

I recognize that we're at war and fighting for our very survival. I'm not sure if you do.

You better believe I see the war. The problem is that you see only one front, the so-called "war on terror". I see the whole war, including the economic and culture fronts that are destroying America's manufacturing base and will to fight. Bush is all but ignoring these fronts. One only need read the story of Magnaquench to understand the implications. In my book, any war on terror must include rooting out the anti-American leftists on our campuses. What does Bush do toward this goal? Nothing, absolutely nothing. What does he do to help keep military mission-critical industries from disappearing to Red China? He lobbies for 'Fast Track' trade policy so he can speed up the process. Pull your head out, man.

He's going to have to show he is worth fighting for. They way I see it is he has done practically nothing to clean up the domestic policy mess. Our campuses are run by Marxists, the Dept. of Education is run by Hillary's 'Girl Power' cronies, illegals continue to pour across the border and vote Dem. Liars, cheaters, criminals, from the Klintoon admin walk around free. 'Repulicans' write unconstitutional laws prohibiting FREE SPEECH before an election, and your beloved 'W' signs it into law.

The fact remains that in 1983 terrorists attacked our troops

That's right, that's what I said. They attacked our troops, they didn't murder 3000 of our citizens in NY and DC.

The only true and clear leader in my lifetime whose stood up to terrorism wholly and without restraint is G W Bush. Pretending Reagan post 9/11 would have done more is historically ignorant.

He also happens to be the only president to have 3000 American civilians murdered on Anerican soil on his watch.

Wow, eight months into office. While for 8 years his democratic predecessor(Clinton) refused 3 times to take the mastermind of 9/11(osama bin ladin) into American custody when he was going to be handed over by Sudan.

What was your screen name before this one? Inquiring minds would like to know!

Getting really sick and tired of seeing old sign up dates with new screen names. Can't you people be honest about who you are or would that out you as obvious Bush haters. Or is the answer that you have more than one screen name?

Your post out you anyways so you didn't have to change your screen name or have a second one!

Do believe the screen names on here need scrubbed. I also think when someone changes their screen name, they need a new sign on date! If I changed mine -- I would not want the new name backdated because that would be phoney -- my current screen name was signed on at that date and if I went to a new one people should know it is new!

Just my two cents!

Good God. Someday, Conservatives will awaken to the key to the success of political power in America.

What is the key?

Read on to find out, if you dare.

Schwarzenegger's got it. Reagan had it. Dad Bush did not and lost. McNader doesn't have a chance. Senate leader Lott and now Frist were AWOL on this quality, and it has seriously undermined the Bush administration because of their lack of it. Buckley, in spite of his intellect, never had it. Neither does Will. But Rush - the man practically invented it and sweats it from every pore. Miller's got it. Coulter? Oh yeah, she carries the torch proudly. It saved the 2000 election, and is the only thing that will save America.

Does W. Bush have it? Yes, but he's reluctant to use it unless he feels he must, when it is sometimes too late. He needs to get it front and center, flat out, no holds barred. He is isolated by advisors who do not have this quality, nor understand how important it is.

What is it?

No, it's not the Segway.

It is the Power of the Warrior Crusader, the fierce and menacing street-wise take no enemies Freeper Conservatives.

Freepers are largely responsible for taking back the election in 2000 with grassroots robust protests and effective dissemination of the truth at a time when our entire lives and futures could have turned on a more passive approach.

Like our forefathers who created this great nation, Warrior Freepers share a burning desire to protect and advance freedom and liberty in the world, and to expose and destroy the Evil of creeping Socialism. We have a deep, immovable passion for America, and we are Good.

It is my opinion that the foremost quality for nominating a candidate for future political office in the new millennium is simply this (to paraphrase Elaine on Seinfeld:) IS THAT CANDIDATE WARRIOR FREEPER WORTHY?

If not, no amount of intelligence, qualification, or experience can make up a lack of this quality.

Almost nothing else matters. To be a Trent Lott sitting-duck, or a Bill Frist debating with the demagogues Schumer and Rangel, you need to be a courageous fighter first and foremost to penetrate the left-wing media conspiracy, withstand and anticipate the lies and deception of the Socialists, and get in the faces of the voters.

The Liberal Liars rely on the good-natured and pious polite intelligent conservatives of years past when they spread their deception and shamelessness across the air waves directly to the voters.

But now, Warrior Freepers are holding these weasels accountable, by their throats.

You are either WARRIOR FREEPER WORTHY, or you are not a qualified Conservative candidate.

WARRIOR FREEPERS RULE THE EARTH.

They're all girly-men, except for Carol Mosley-Braun, who is the most masculine of the pack.

And Admin Mod, have the Overlords given up weeding out the disruptors?

-The President scores well under 50% on polls asking if he should be re-elected

...Indeed, in the bogus Gallup and Newsweek polls. The most recent poll (Zogby) showed Bush at 58% approval, and beating every Democrat by a minimum of 10%.

Disruptor? If you're referring to me, then you didn't even read - much less comprehend - the entire initial post & comment, did you? And apparently you also didn't pay any attention to who was posting this thread. Someone who has been here longer than you, though my sign-up date says Nov 98 due to a system switch.

If nothing else, this thread has certainly given me some good laughs. I highly suggest you go back and read again.

More specifically, your post is one of the lamest attacks on President Bush I've ever seen, attributed to "Varied Internet sources," (in other words, a "VANITY"). The AdmModerators used to pull this kind of thread before ten people had responded to it. Now it has over 150 responses. I'm beginning to wonder what's going on with FreeRepublic.

Who else but a plant or a mole would post this crap on FR?

Criticism is good, often essential, but this headline puts the lie to the rant.

What is the purpose of this post?

Well, since neither of you are able to grasp the meaning of this thread, then I suppose I'm a mole. A really slow mole, but a mole nonetheless.

But Publius, you are right about the headline. Too bad your overall comprehension skills aren't as finely honed.

If Free Republic had existed in 1983, Bush might have been re-elected, because there would have been a place where the positive news was presented. For example, you might want to go here to see the positive news about Iraq http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/991411/posts

Bush would have been re-elected in 1983? That would have been a neat trick, for father or son.

"anything less than the Second Coming of Reagan"

There are some on here who think Reagan wasn't conservative enough to vote for.

"If that's what is required to stop the GOP from being run by RINOs who expect me to pay for someone else's pills, so be it."

So you'd classify Bush as a RINO. Well, get ready, because if you and those like you cause Bush to lose, you keep your principles, but you'll pay out even more in taxes for an even bigger Medicare prescription benefit. You'll lose any hope of further advances toward curbing abortion (maybe you think that's a good thing, which makes you libertarian rather than conversative). You'll lose any hope of getting conservative judges appointed. I could go on, but you get the idea.

So don't say you weren't warned.
