I missed all the pros of having Governor Bustamante...could you enlighten me?

No pros there.

The pros is that the Republican party doesn't disintegrate.

The pro is not having very competent Kennedy clan lefties running CA.

The pro is letting leftist dems enact their social agendas rather than a Republican.

A Schwarzenegger win moves the Republican maintstream in the wrong direction. Every major candidate will be considered a liability if he or she has a pro-family pro-life platform.

Essentially a Schwarzenegger win makes that current Mayor of NYC, who is a Republican, the mainstream Republican standard.

Schwarzenegger is for giving benefits to "domestic partnerships". To my mind that is a money grab pure and simple which will take more tax dollars.

He is against a proposition that disallows divisive and racist categorization of people. Cruz Bustamante is spending his millions to promote defeating this initiative.

Schwarzenegger is against vouchers.

These are all democrat left positions.

They also are issues that a governor actually has a major impact on.

If a Republican champions all these traditional leftist liberal positions, we have no opposition party anymore.

I just hope Tom doesn't stay in 'till the end if the numbers don't change alot. I think Tom as head of Arnold's cabinet on tax policy would be good. And between the two I'm sure we could get our borders protected.

We disagree on Arnold vs Tom, but please, the worst possible outcome is Davis winning the recall and California having to re-pay Davis for all his campaign.

*cringe* Burlte has, luckily, shed some pounds... Though he did a good job raising funds for Tom's controller campaign. Shame he didn't win against, err, whatever his name is. A Republican Controller would be mighty handy right now.

Arnold has the endorsement of dozens and dozens of conservatives and GOP groups. McNader has none. Get used to it.

None of that goes to the point of why he does or doesn't "deserve" your vote. Reagan was opposed by the Republican establishment when he ran for president in 76 -- but he still had convictions and integrity and he deserved - and got - my vote in a primary. Whether McClintock deserves my vote has to do with his beliefs and abilities, not what some party hacks think about him or anybody else. I make up my own mind who I'll support - - and to deserve my vote, you have to be a conservative and knowledgeable and articulate on the issues. MClintock is all three in spades. Sounds like you make your decisions based on what other people - party hacks - tell you to think, and you find merit in the superficial, not substance.

oh, is that why Arnold won't support the initiative to repeal drivers licenses for illegals? The guy doesn't stand for anything, as far as I can tell. But a lot of freepers have fallen for him, that's for sure.

I agree. There isn't a doubt in my mind that if Tom weren't in this race forcing Arnold to the right (well, somewhat) all we'd be hearing about is education, Prop 49, and the children.

I don't know whom they supported during the primaries. I do know that during the election for the governor, they supported Simon. That's what parties do, gather behind a single candidate.

That and a bigger job to head the entire budget watch committe was offered to Tom at the Republican Convention, but he rejected it and is continuing his "I will not withdraw" mantra.

There was one thing I noticed in today's debate, which could be an indication -- either that, or I am trying to make it so: Tom didn't actually come out and tell people to vote for him, only to go to helptom.com, or whatever his website it. I hope this is an indication that he may pull out.

On the other hand right afterwards he went on H&C and kept insisting he is in it until the finish.

The Republican leadership and the party are getting very exasperated with him, it's becoming more and more obvious.
