Brother Hugh, some news.
John Eastman, a professor of law at Chapman University and a frequent guest on your radio program, has just brought to my attention a poll that will interest you. Commissioned by the Lincoln Club of Orange County, the poll includes the following results:
If Arnold Schwarzenegger found himself in a head-to-head race against Cruz Bustamante--that is, in effect, if Tom McClintock dropped out of the race--then Schwarzenegger would win, 44 to 37 percent.
But if Tom McClintock found himself in a head-to-head race against Cruz Bustamante--that is, in effect, if Schwarzenegger dropped out of the race--then McClintock would win, 42 to 40 percent.
From the beginning, Hugh, you have made a single argument against McClintock, insisting that he cannot win.
But he can.

Your constant yelling of "Boo" at Conservatism is getting pretty lame now on Sept 24th. Is their any depth you will not sink to in order to say it "can't be done?" A little thin skinned are we? Im still waiting for Tom "Cruze" McClinton to explain his strategy for winning this election? He hasnt moved in the polls in two or three weeks although I hear every day he's surging? What is your definition of surging? Is it charging up your batteries or do you have the same definition as everyone else? I guess Im asking McClinton what is the meaning of is?
BTW, I thought the post that you responding to was straightforward and didnt cast any aspirtions on the birth of anyone on this forum. I thought I would be charitable all day since you guys are going down. Why wipe your faces in it...but since you insist, you got what you deserve.

Absolutely, but for the last time, Arnold is in it to stay. You're avoiding the question. Do you not have an answer?
To: JCEccles
Will you please tell us your criteria for evaluating these tens of thousands of candidatesNot sure what you're referring to here???
To: PeoplesRep_of_LA
That picture is beneath even you. You know full well that the vast majority of folks that support Arnold are Bush supporters but yet you call us liberals and Hillary Clinton supporters!
You and the rest of the McC folks have pushed the button on this race to where you are lying now about who does support Arnold. Maybe you should go look in the mirror before posting another negative about Arnold or his supporters. When you have to stoop to lying that says more about you than Arnold!

Nice, take what I say completely out of context...Run away, run away!
My conservative credentials are pretty well established...
You sure sound defensive, its not like you were defending a liberal or something, right? You are talking about what is best for Conservatives here.
I'm certainly not swayed by his star power, but many, many uninformed independants and Dems are
Really? Last time I checked 6% of his support comes from Dems, with a whopping 43% negative (and growing). Algore dropped out with negatives that high, and (R)nold hasn't even answered a tough question, yet.
and we need some of their votes as well, in a state where Dems far outnumber Reps.
What is this "we" stuff? Your telling Californains to support (R)nold certainly puts you against what is best for CA, and permits you from saying this "we" stuff.
This outnumber is such BS, most of the Indies are disaffected Conservatives. After all, you Know it All keep pushing liberal Republicans like Wilson and (R)nold down our throats, so we just don't turn out to vote. When their are ballots, where we don't have to trust your people, we turn out in droves, how else could all these ultra conservative initiatives passed in "liberal" California?
1994 - Proposition #184: Three-strikes, life imprisonment for repeat felons.
1994 - Proposition #187: Cut off state funds for Illegal Aliens.
1996 - Proposition #209: Ended statewide Affirmative Action
1998 - Proposition #227: Ended bilingual education
2000 - Proposition #22: Defined marriage as one man - one woman.
Not with your "help" I assure you.
Celebrity Worship? I'd respond more harshly to that accusation, but I'll try and keep my comments at a more civil level.
Why the temptation to be so uncivil? Touch a nerve?
Here, have a Coke on me with your Movie Popcorn and we'll call it even.

Why would you not prefer McClintock for governor over Schwarzenegger?

Looks to me like Arnold still has the best chance. He still beats TOM. YAWN!!

Close win or cakewalk, a win is a win. Why wouldn't you prefer a close win by a conservative over a cakewalk by a liberal? Three years of Bustamante? Survival of the state? Are those enough reasons for you?

I don't think the statement "there is no more media-savvy candidate [than Arnold]" is hyperbole.
It's obvious to me that the poster was referring to the California recall candidates. This isn't a thread about Oregon elections or national elections.
Who among the recall candidates is more media savvy? I mean, if you're saying the above statement was "hyperbole," you must have some in mind who are MORE so.
Not that it much matters, given that the candidate whom (I infer) you prefer over Arnold is probably not as "media-savvy." Hard to say, because I don't know what's meant by "savvy," and Tom's pretty sharp with the media, esp. talk radio.

Absolutely, but for the last time, Arnold is in it to stay. You're avoiding the question. Do you not have an answer?I give up. "Absolutely" is an answer, no? This whole thread is based on a pie-in-the-sky theoretical nonesense, that has no link to any poll that it references.
It's a 3 way race, get over it.
To: NYC Republican
I'm sorry. Did you not assert "there is no more media savvy candidate than Schwarzenegger?"
Did I confuse your hyperbole with someone's else's?

The post said that Arnold has done thousands of interviews, not that thousands of candidates were interviewed.

You know full well that the vast majority of folks that support Arnold are Bush supporters but yet you call us liberals and Hillary Clinton supporters! Its obviously not beneath you to have details go TOTALLY OVER YOUR HEAD! Good golly, does 1000 Large to Hillary from Warren Buffet ring a bell? How about Bonnie Reiss? West Wing's own Rob Lowe forgotten as well? How can you people be this naive? Those are his cabinet, Oklahoma, not Traingulationist like yourself.
You and the rest of the McC folks have pushed the button on this race to where you are lying now about who does support Arnold
No, that would be you, if you deny those 3 are part of his cabinet, which you probably will...

Three years of Bustamante?Three years of McClintock. There is evidence that McClintock can beat Bustamante. Do you not prefer McClintock over Bustamante?
To: JCEccles
Do some of you realize how much of this you already stated about Pres Bush in 2000 from the Keyes camp even after the convention? All I have to do is close my eyes and insert Bush for Arnold and I see the same crap being posted! Never forget being told that if Bush dropped out Keyes could beat Gore!
Your spin is not working!

If he won't answer the question, I will: I'd prefer a close conservative win (or a not-close one, for that matter) over a cakewalk by a moderate/liberal.
Of course, the poll leading off the thread doesn't exactly support McClintock's ability to win in the race that's actually being run, a race that DOES include Schwarzenegger. (And even if Schwarzenegger weren't an option, and IF he didn't have hundreds of thousands of absentee votes already in the bag, the poll sill is only a statistical dead heat between McC and Cruz.)

To: NYC Republican
Another reality check... If Arnold never got into the race, the recall would NEVER pass.
That's total speculation. There's no way of knowing one way or the other. An argument can also be made that by veering so far Left, Arnold has split the party, thus making a "no on the recall" outcome more likely, as many Republicans would see Davis as a lesser evil than Bustamante.

Typical.
No, it wasn't mean, it was showing that you don't believe in Conservatism, which is true.
Do not post to me.
I'm the second one in a row you couldn't debate on your guy. Are you Arthur, King of the Britons from Monty Python's Holy Grail?
