Actually, the liberals won't lose if Arnie wins since he's a moderate Republican at best. This whole recall was based on Gray's inability to get finances in order and what does Arnie propose? A hydrogen highway! I'm afraid Arnie has no idea what he's doing.

I would imagine those people he places around him to do the work will actually know what to do.

Believe the numbers for McC have fallen since this poll was taken because of his taking money from the Indians and throwing in with Cruz.

Some Freepers have to get it through their head that you cannot elect a conservative in some states to be Governor because of the population of the state. Give me a moderate Republican anyday over a liberal RAT. Our most liberal Republican in the Senate beats all but one of the DemocRAT Senators who is Zell Miller -- a Dixiecrat and not a member of the Clinton DemocRATs. Ben Nelson of NE comes close and after that the DemocRat Senators fall away from any Republican rapidly.

Isn't it high time that the McClintock supporters realize that one of the 2 front-runners will become the next governor (or Davis)? If they can't come around to supporting Arnold, shouldn't they, at the very least, redirect their fire towards the true targets, DavisBustamante? Why would they want to further tarnish Arnold, performing the Dems' dirty work?

7 points isn't comfortable at all... If it's not within the MOE (margin of error), it's just outside of it. WAYYYY too close for comfort. Why risk it? If McClintock will lose anyway, what's the point? He should do the honorable thing and throw his support to Arnold.

I don't think it would help his career much. McClintock's best career hope would be if he withdrew and endorsed Arnold, who then lost anyway. Then he would get to look like the guy who sacrificed his own shot for the good of the party, but wouldn't be surrendering leadership of that party to someone ideologically opposed to him.

Staying in or getting out while Arnold wins wouldn't seem to make much difference for McClintock's later career.

A key signal will be tonight's debate. If McClintock goes on the offensive against Davis/Bustamante and NOT Arnold, then its a signal to the McClintock supporters to throw their support to Arnie (even if he doesn't officially pull out). If McClintock attacks Arnold, then McClintock will run hard right through election day.

If these numbers are accurate them McC has shot his wad. He goes to a position of less leverage which I cannot imagine was in his master plan.

Ah, jeeezzzz... this election is like nothing I've ever seen... As I was going through the "internals" on this poll, I was hit by this huge paradox:

If McClintock pulls out, a Schwartzenegger victory is virtually assured.

HOWEVER, if the Bustamante/Huffington/Camacho supporters see that if a Schwartzegger victory is assured, the "Yes on Recall, Yes on B/H/C" crowd (which is 20-30% of their voters per the poll internals) will now become "NO on recall" voters. This might be enough to turn the 57% on Yes to 49.9%.

So maybe the only way for Arnold to become Governor, is if it's a tight race. Which means McClintock should stay in.
