Oh, please, let this one be true.
I'd love to see the Mikhail Suslov wing of the conservative movement get b!tch-slapped.

Very interesting, recent, and they have "certain" voters and "likely" voters. You quoted the "certain" voters, and I agree, that should be relatively accurate.
It's also interesting that 61% Republicans are for Arnold, only 28% for McC.
Among conservatives: 50% Arnold, 30% McC and 14% for Bustamante! (Now we know why do we have so much support for Bustamante right here, on FR.)

Arnold ahead without McC dropping out -- this is hilarious! I now want him to win without McC dropping out! Boy that will really make them mad wont it. Drier was on Hardball tonight and said their internal polling had Arnold at 34%, Bustamante at 27% and McClinton at 17% and shrinking. They also had the recall winning by about 57%.

Haven't you been reading the posts, where people said they actually would rather have Bustamante, than Arnold, that Bustamante is not so bad, and so on?
To: PhiKapMom
Arnold ahead without McC dropping out -- this is hilarious! I now want him to win without McC dropping out! What we're seeing is the pragmatic conservatives (like me) who have worked their butts off to try to elect the best man in the race (McClintock) but are now moving over to support Arnold to ensure a Republican victory.

Hmm...
I've been backing McClintock 100%, but I think if he doesn't get passed the 21% mark 1 week before the election, Tom should bow out, and get ready to unseat Boxer in 2004.
Tom is the best candidate we could send against Boxer, and Rove will probably back him, because for all Rove's faults, Rove is great at finding good Senate candidates such as Saxby Chambliss and Jim Talent.

Actually Bustamante has moved up 3% and McClintock 2% from there last poll with Schwarzenegger staying even.....
Unless Schwarzenegger fubs badly tomorrow night then look for him and Bustamante to be the contenders..... and it will be McClintock, who?

While I happen to agree more with Tom McClintock's views, if he can't win then Arnold is the obvious choice.
One thing I really don't understand is why McClintock has been so adamant that he will not leave the race. If polls show a week or so before the race that he can not win and that Arnold might be able to, then he should get out. It's the honorable thing to do. Arnold is a VAST improvement over Bustamante or Davis. I just can't imagine that McClintock wants to be blamed for keeping Davis or putting Bustamante in office after all this effort. Ultimately, I think McClintock will get out, but even if he doesn't his support will probably fall somewhat once his supporters conclude he can't win.

But remember, the margin of error is 3.6% so the Cruz & McC changes are the same as last time, within that margin.
McC still polls about half of what Arnold polls.
To: jmc813
Have you ever gotten any Conservative numbers for CA that you keep saying I'm mixing up with Republican numbers? In this poll conservatives for McClintock are at 30%........ Schwarzenegger at 50%....

I am very happy to hear that! Republican Victory is the most important thing in this election. This is important and good in any election, but especially in this one, because if Davis doesn't get recalled or Bustamante gets elected, that will strengthen the Dems in CA and will be very destructive for the Republicans, and it would also have national implications.
