I agree with all but one sentance: Bill Clinton didn't reform welfare. He merely signed the bill passed by the Repulican congress - after vetoing two previous identical bills.

Bravo to this author, and I agree with your one exception, Cordeiro. My eye also caught on that sentance. In fact, as a president, it seems to me Bill Clinton was quintessentially French in character as that character is described in this excellent article.
With our 2004 election season fast approaching, it remains to be seen if today's American character is more akin to that of our Founders, or more akin to the French. Will this country toss out a great president and elect yet another weenie Leftist Dem?
