Amen to that! I love Antigua coffee! Started drinking the "hard stuff" (Colombian) when my parents were missionaries in Bogota` (at age two, I was asking the maid in Bogota` for a cup of joe with milk and sugar!)

That is not the stuff we drank in Kearsarge and Kitty Hawk, shipmate!

No, not on the Kitty, nor on Ike, nor on Nimitz.
Which is EXACTLY why I spring for the good stuff now. I may never get that old taste of 20hr boiled hell out of my mouth.

Geez, all the news of the day, with GWB before the U.N. and recall, and you manage to get 150 posts in an hour over coffee? and not even a Registered instant classic? You're good!
BTW, Maxwell house, real strong, and about 2-3 hours old, with just a little lowfat milk, NO SUGAR.

Mine is usually a custom blend of Schuil Coffee (Michigan roaster). It will contain varying amounts of Seattle Blend, Fogchaser, New York Roast, San Francisco Blend, Kona, French Roast, but mostly Italian Espresso Roast. Grind fresh each morning and it's not strong enough if it doesn't take two spoonfuls of Coffeemate in hubby's cup to turn it tan. (I drink mine black, no sugar) Enjoy!

WHOA! I moved from Washington (espresso stand on every corner) state to North Carolina (what is espresso) state and thought I was going to die! I was never so happy in my life when my (then)fiance called me from Georgia and said "I have a job offer" I said "where" He said "Washington state" I said "I'm packing!" Our first stop in Washington I drug him to an espresso stand and said Repeat after me and memorize "tall double vanilla mocha", He got it and I said "I DO" :)

Coffee, when brewed strong, doesn't age well in the pot.
It begins to burn.
The salt keeps that from happening a little longer than normal.
(Adding salt to a normal pot of coffee after it is burned will take the burnt taste away. But one must not add too much.)
I usually put only enough to cover the surface of a dime with a single layer of salt.
And that goes straight into the filter.
Yes, to the skeptics reading this, it does make a difference.
Recirculating the stuff isn't normally needed.
Unless you bought an extremely weak light roast that looks like mildly colored scared water.
Works best, so far, with a medium roast.
Haven't tried it with any dark roasts, they usually have less caffiene content.
Light roasts usually don't 'take' too well to being brewed like that.

Selection B-1 from the machine at work. It's like doing strait shots of Jack, but with the opposite effect and double the gutrot. All that for .35 cents.
Actually fresh ground Kona thru the expresso machine, lots of cream and sugar and a squirt of whipped cream on top.

Black coffee is the only real coffee. Sugar and cream geeks are sissies.
Black coffee strong enough you have to "cut a slice out of the pot". At least ten cups before I start work.

Post 101.
Try it without sugar and cream.
Then try it with.
But do not forget the pinch of salt.

Cream and sugar in Kona? I should have you arrested.
The only way to treat Kona is through a coffee press, pristine with it's own oils swirling on top. Whipped cream? Someone should whip you! ;-)
