Naturally all the major decisions are being made at the level of the National Security Council, under Condoleezza Rice." My husband, being a MAN, said the only reason he's caving to the U.S. is because Condaleeza is a hottie.

Well, then... let's just sit back, hold our breath, and pray that it is indeed true; for if it is... IT'S JUDGMENT DAY!

To: dighton

The only thing I'd be bargaining is how long and painful Saddam's death is.

I keep having this fantasy where Bush gets on national TV from the Oval Office and says: "The Democrats and their friends in the national press corps. have been caught lying to the nation for political gain. . ."
And then he names names.

Hussein has been in secret negotiations with US forces in Iraq for the past nine days, we can reveal. B.S., If Saddam is negotiating with anyone it is France. Notice how France wants Iraq to be sovreign as soon as possible. This would allow France to broker a deal for Saddam with the new Iraqi government.

and then, as he's hauled off to prison for treason, Sen. Daschle comments, "I'm deeply saddened."

They have little say about this war. They ran like cowards.

This story originated a couple of days ago in Debka. I think that Sadaam has already vamoosed if he wanted to.

if this turns out to be true, there will be another "Judgment Day" for liberals But you know with liberals, everytime they`re caught with their pants down, they deny or distort everything they did. "We never doubted that there were WMD, we just wanted them to be found expediently lest they fall into the wrong hands." Then Dan Rather and Peter Jennings will do reports on why liberals were "misquoted" despite liberals on videotape saying Iraq was a dupe etc.

U.S. Military Denies Report of Saddam Exile OfferThe U.S. military on Sunday denied a British media report that Saddam Hussein had offered money and information on weapons
The above report says information -"and disclose bank accounts where he siphoned off" - and not "bribe" or "offered money."
I can see why the U.S. denies a bribe story.
My guess is it leaked. They're splitting words here.
My gut says yes, they are dealing.

Nah, France's surrender doesn't give them leverage in the debate over the spoils. When Iraq is sovreign the UN and France will exert more influence than the US. "After all", they will say, "We didn't bomb or invade Iraq, here have loan forgivness and don't worry you don't have to pay back the USA".
Iraq will turn a blind eye to Saddam going on holiday.
And France will NOT want Saddam to tell the US about any WMD.
To: concerned about politics
Bush was right. He's honest. His enemies aren't.
There was never any doubt.
To: jmstein7
Could it be that, knowing this, Bush, et al, has just been pulling the "rope-a-dope" the whole time? Shhhh! hillary hasn't declared she is running yet!
To: jmstein7
This is dirty but I believe in power politics. Make a deal with Saddam contingent on us first finding the WMD. Then escort him to Belarus. Dispatch the CIA to Belarus and assassinate him.
Prediction on the Dems response:
1. We make a deal with Saddam. Dem reply: How can Republicans make a deal with such an evil tyrant after the miilions he killed with US support.
2. We make no deal with Saddam. Dem reply: Bush is letting personal animosity get in the way of a deal that could end the Iraq crisis once and for all.
