It's too bad... I always thought Whoopi Goldberg deserved an Oscar over a lot of other chicks. Halle had a 'hard' life so I am not going to criticize her (hard as that may be). Her mother raised her with that black superwoman thing. Halle is always saying how she's secure but all other mixed race people are confused. She seems the most confused to me every time she opens her mouth. Not only confused but not very happy either. Has she EVER had a positive role in any movie? Not really.

I liked Whoopi in "Ghost", Star Trek: TNG and "Sister Act". Her politics aside, she's a pretty decent actress, given the right part.

That's an interesting take on Halle - I think the only things I've seen her in was The Flintstones and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, which she was very good in.

Too bad she seems to feel the need to overcompensate for and defend who she is. I didn't realize her mom went that route.

*** Well I think at the time her mother felt that was best. However, it's not healthy to raise a biracial child, with one racial identity. IMHO her mom gave her a bigger identity crisis than society. Much of what her mom told her is unfounded. I think Halle Berry is probably amazed at how people like Tiger Woods, Mariah Carey,etc. have a healthy sense of 'multiethnic identity'. Not everything is black or white. Halle is very good at playing really tragic mulatto roles because that's pretty much her life. Oh well... either way when one is in the public eye it is very hard.

Whoopie is one of my favorites. If I cared about Hollyweird's politics, I would not see a movie ever. My dad met her once. He said she's really cool.

Thanks... this 'live' thread is perhaps one of the longest running live threads I've seen on FR. BTW, I actually had a chance to see Miss Florida 'get crowned'. She came pretty darned close to a Halle earthquake performance. Bless her heart. I won't begrudge her crown.

Your comments in regard to Wardaddy are way off base. You do not have any pics posted on your home page so we cannot see what you or your family look like. Just because a man or a woman is proud of their family does not give you or anyone else to right to fling such nasty comments. It sounded almost personal. Calling someone foul names is in very poor taste, it shows that you may have some issues with a man being proud of the way his wife looks. Like Wardaddy said, if you do not like what he said, then move on. You do not have many post on FR, I do not either, I mainly lurk, but in this case I decided to address you. Wardaddy is an informed participant on FR and did not provoke this type of comment. I think you should apologize.He is not fat either, that was so childish.
