Governor goes back to Lowe's Motor Speedway to raise money10:22 PM EDT on Saturday, September 20, 2003
Associated PressRALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina Governor Mike Easley is hoping to raise some fast cash at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord next month.
The governor is holding a $1,000-a-person fund-raiser October ninth at the same track where he crashed into a wall at 120 miles per hour during a charity event in May.
Easley, a Democrat seeking re-election next year, wasn't injured in the crash.
The invitations to the event, dubbed the "Mike Easley 400," features a ticket with photographs of Easley behind the wheel and in a racing uniform.
Easley writes in the invitation that for everyone's safety the first lady will be there to ensure that he doesn't get behind the wheel.
Organizers say they expect at least 200 people to attend.
