How old is your child? Sounds like you live next door to this birdbrain I know. I can't wait until his neighbors start filling his three kids with CRAP.

The President's great-grandfather owned an foundry in Ohio, and was, of all things, a Democrat. His son, the President's grandfather, went to Yale and became an investment banker at Brown Brothers Harriman on Wall Street, where the real money was. In such a position, one can get in on any number of investment opportunities. Eventually, Prescott Bush went into politics, as a Republican Senator from Connecticut, and, of all things, a fairly strong protectionist.
Don't believe the Nazi rumors. All American banking houses and many industrial corporations had ongoing investments in Germany. Maybe they should have sold up, but not doing so doesn't make them Nazis.
Prescott staked his son George some money for oil exploration in West Texas, and George built up an oil company, and followed his father into politics. His wife Barbara's family had been involved in magazine publishing and were well off, though not as rich as the Bushes.
George in turn gave his son money to start up in oil. From what I've heard he wasn't quite as successful a businessman as his father or grandfather, though he did do well as owner of a baseball team.

Any suggestions as to where to start?Yes.
First, keep the child away from the neighbor as he/she might have a perversion.
Tell your child that the Bushes obtained their wealth from a different source than Lyndon Bird and Lady Bird did. Those Birds stole their loot and probably planned the Kennedy assassination.
Jimmie and Rozalind Carter never had much money until he retired in disgrace from the presidency.
The Presidents Clinton salted away a mint in numbered offshore accounts while Billy Goat earned about 18,000 per year as governor of Arkancide. They are now, however, on a path that will make them richer than Midas (and I don't mean the muffler king.)

Fear of family wealth and heriditary aristocracy go hand-in-hand. That is why Howard Dean is keeping his aristocratic family history and wealthy patriarchs so little mentioned. His silver spoon background makes Bush seem like the poor cousin.
His medical residency, aportion of which was served with Planned Parenthood, is also being kept very low key...he supposedly doesn't want to discuss that as well. He may actually be our first abortionist major party cadidate. Senator Heinz, a Republican, left much of his wealth to his wife who married another of the Democrat front runners. Politics as a vocation is a money game. Always has been and always will be.

Teach your son to do the research by himself. Take him to library to check out books by both anti-Bush biographers and pro-Bush biographers (most of the trustworthy information is not available in the Internet), teach him to research magazine articles, and finally, show him to use the Internet
