SAN FRANCISCO - Monadel Herzallah, a San Francisco labor leader, was on the phone trying to make sure a voter understood how the Oct. 7 recall election would work -- and what the state's major unions want the results to be.

Sitting next to him Tuesday night at a phone bank run from the offices of the San Francisco Labor Council was Chloe Osmer. The voter she called brought up Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Anybody remember how they overcame a huge lead in the polls for Prop 226 in June of 1998 with this tactic?

This is a force to be reckoned with!!! You'll see.

Given the illegal immigrant crisis in California, and the Democrat's anti-business legislation, it makes no sense to me that unions would support Davis or Bustamante.

"While most of the attention has gone to candidate appearances and television ads, it's in the trenches in places such as the crowded and slightly chaotic second-floor conference room at the labor office on Franklin Street that elections can be won or lost."

Written like a true out-of-stater. The union support for the Dems is NOT traditional private sector blue-collar labor unions; rather it's pink-collar gov't office workers.

I once a client that had offices in a building that was also used by the city of LA. I can still hear the swish swish of the tightly packed nylon dresses as the cows made their way back and forth to the cafeteria. Didn't seem like any work was ever getting done.

My dad was a rabid union democrat - disgusted that all of his children grew up to be republicans. And, whenever he voted - our mom cancelled out his vote!;^}

Actuallythat is true across the country. The largest blocks of the AFL-CIO are Federal, State and municipal workers.

Actually, allowing Fed, State, and Municipal workers to be Unionized is how the Free Traitors "bought off" the BIG LABOR heavies...Union income remains the same while Private Sector jobs are exported.

So true...say can you tell me where I might find some of the history surrounding this? For instance, how did federal employees become unionized?

"...how did federal employees become unionized?"

It isn't just federal! They're ALL unionized!!! Fed, State, County, City, Special Districts, Teachers, Day Care for both young and old, Social Workers, Socialist Workers ALL!!!

They have salaries and benefits the private sectors only dreams of having!!!

They are scared by this recall and more highly motivated than EVER!!! They are blind with RAGE!!!

I know that...I live in NYC - the third largest employeer in the country (or so I am told.) It is just easier to start with the federal case than tracing down fifty states.

Well .. while they're HITTING the phone lines, I notice the mainstream has totally ignored the fact that some union goons were HITTING College Republicans who were counter demonstrating in favor of Prop 54.

I read here on FR that some of the girls had their hair pulled, were pushed and shoved, and that the union thugs surrounded one girl and the rest of them had to barge in and rescue her. I believe we have a case of "assault with intent" here and I hope they file a criminal complaint.

WHERE'S THE MEDIA - NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!!!! And .. according to the report - all the media were there and WITNESSED THE EVENT .. BUT THEY'RE NOT BIASED!!

The unions OWN Davis and Bustemonte .They're biggest fear is someone they can't control.Someone who might veto some of thier pet legislation.
