It's incredible that anyone could claim that the self-confessed killer of Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Stephen Sorensen was a "pacifist" and "he never killed anything," yet those are the words of Lynne Kueck, a U.S. Navy officer and nurse, and one of the two sisters of the late Donald Kueck - the 52 year-old killer of Deputy Sorensen.
In an exclusive interview with the Los Angeles Daily News, the killer's family stuck out at the victim, Deputy Sorensen, claiming that he "reaped what he sowed." Blaming slain Deputy Sorensen for just about everything that went wrong in their brother's life, the sisters of Kueck displayed the sort of denial that defies belief.

One of the more notable stories of Steve's devotion to his community was not some high-profile arrest (although there were many) but rather the time that a local storeowner noticed Steve constantly coming in for groceries. Knowing there were only 3 mouths to feed in Steve's family, he asked Steve if he had a tapeworm. Steve bashfully told him there were some folks having a rough time and he was just helping out until they got on their feet. The storeowner was soon a partner in this charity and from then on, That was the sort of man Steve Sorensen was. A true, unsung hero. |

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the tragic loss of one of our finest, on Saturday, August 2, 2003, Deputy Sorensen was brutally cut-down in a hail of assault weapon fire by so-called "pacifist" Kueck as Deputy Sorensen approached Kueck's trailer in Llano, an area near Lake Los Angeles, a remote and sparsely populated part of the Antelope Valley, in the north-eastern corner of Los Angeles County.
After he killed Deputy Sorensen, this "pacifist" then shot Deputy Sorensen again at point blank range, tied the dead Deputy's body to the back of his car, and then dragged the body some 2 and a half miles from his trailer.

In the Daily News article, the Kueck family's response to questioning about their brother's actions was apparently to deny, deny, deny. It's not uncommon these days for people to live in this sort of denial, yet their seemingly brazen disregard for the callous, cold-blooded actions of their brother, pushes the envelope of denial to previously uncharted depths.
Their degree of denial is boundless. They excuse his conduct by continually minimizing his headlong plunge into a life a of worthless anti-establishment loner. Objectively, he was without a doubt an anti-authoritarian who lived in a world where "taking responsibility" had no meaning.
One example of Kueck's crazy logic arises from the death of his son, Chuck, who died in 2001 of a drug overdose. The sisters said that Kueck's mental state deteriorated after this event, yet the sisters admit that Kueck, who was already taking "large doses of prescription drugs for back problems," then began using methamphetamine himself!

Lynne Kueck's callous remark that Deputy Sorensen "reaped what he sowed," is perhaps based on the 1994 incident when Kueck was arrested for a "road rage" incident when Kueck would not let Deputy Sorensen (who was driving to work) pass him on the road.
According to the Daily News article, the Kueck sisters only became aware of this 9 year old incident between Kueck and Deputy Sorensen when they (the sisters) saw Donald Kueck's journal in his trailer, some time after his fiery death. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE that Kueck even recognized Deputy Sorensen when he shot him to death!
By all accounts there were countless cell phone conversations between Kueck and his sisters and daughter. In those conversations, Kueck freely admitted that he had killed Deputy Sorensen, but not once did he say "That's the Deputy who had me arrested in 1994."
There simply is no connection, other than unhappy coincidence, between the 1994 incident, and the 2003 murder. Indeed, given the depths of Kueck's self medication with methamphetamine and "powerful prescription drugs," Kueck probably would not have recognized his own family if one of them had strayed onto his property.
To add insult to injury, the Kueck's sisters said they know their brother confessed to the killing but "do not believe he was responsible for the chain of events that led to it." I'm sorry folks, but can anyone, by any stretch of the imagination, tell me WHO ELSE WAS RESPONSIBLE? Clearly not Donald Kueck who pulled the trigger! At least that's the opinion of Lynne Kueck.
The sisters apparently continued to minimize their brother's conduct by saying "We don't know why Deputy Sorensen had gone on his property to begin with," Lynne Kueck said. "We've gotten different stories from the Sheriff's Department."
Well, let's see. Why don't we know why Deputy Sorensen went onto his (Kueck's) property to begin with? Could it be because your sh*t for brains brother killed Steve before he could tell anyone the reason? What reason did Kueck give? "He didn't want to go back to jail." For what? The meth lab that he had in his trailer?
And as for the "different stories" that the sisters claim to have received from the Sheriff's Department, what on earth do you expect? That the Sheriff's Department has some kind of mind reader that can look into the past? The answer is simply that there can only be different theories as to why Deputy Sorensen went onto Donald Kueck's property - whatever the reason was died with Steve in a hail of assault rifle fire.
The inescapable truth is that whatever the reason was, it did not justify Donald Kueck's lethal response.

The inescapable truth is that Donald Kueck had a history of resisting any display of authority, and rather than face the truth that he had certain "reality" issues, he was allowed to continue in his sea of denial by those who enabled him to exist in that a sea of denial.
Lynne Kueck claims that "There was a history of harassment." There was none. The truth is that "harassment" has a different meaning when it concerned Donald Kueck. Any authority figure who encountered Kueck, for whatever reason, was "harassment," and on August 2, 2003, when Deputy Sorensen stepped on that hallowed piece of dirt surrounding Kueck's trailer, Kueck finally snapped - the 52 year old waste of space finally realized that not only had he wasted his life, but that he had to take another. Kueck had to kill Deputy Sorensen lest he face himself, and all that he had become.
Kueck's Florida-based sister, Gilmore, said: "We want to know what happened and why Deputy Sorensen was there. That's all."
I'd like to know why Kueck, who clearly had issues with reality, was allowed to continue in his drug-crazed world of conspiracies against him by those who knew him and must have known of his problems?
Why was he dispatched to live alone in a trailer, in the middle of nowhere, where he apparently made and used methamphetamine?
Why didn't anyone who knew him say word to anyone about his behavior?
Why didn't the people who knew of Kueck's vile, distorted, and sick, way of life do nothing but continue to enable his existence in a sea of denial?
I'd like to know why the people who knew Donald Kueck, and knew what he did, did not have the decency to at least say they were sorry to Deputy Sorensen's family? They had the chance. The Los Angeles Daily News reported their denial, I'm sure they would have reported any trace of remorse. There was none. Only denial.
