American Indians who are supporting Democrat front-runner Cruz Bustamante in California are also promoting Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, and GOP front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger is furious.
"I think that as far as Tom McClintock is concerned, I think the question I have for him is, what side is he on?" Schwarzenegger said Thursday. "Is he on the side of the Republicans? Does he represent the Republicans, or does he represent Bustamante?"
Schwarzenegger suggested that the tribes were abetting Bustamante by trying to split the Republican vote.
"They are financing his commercials and TV spots and all that," said Schwarzenegger, who doesn't take money from Indian tribes. "He knows they're financing him not because they want him to be governor. They just want to interfere with the process so that Bustamante wins. He has to decide which side is he on, the Republicans' or Bustamante's."
McClintock called Schwarzenegger's comments "a ridiculous statement by a man who obviously hasn't paid much attention to California public affairs. ... For 20 years, I have fought to protect sovereignty on reservation lands, well before there was gaming.
"If they wanted to hurt Schwarzenegger, they would be making an independent expenditure to hurt Schwarzenegger, and Lord knows there's plenty they could hurt him with."
Assemblyman John Benoit, R-Palm Desert, a Schwarzenegger supporter, told the Riverside Press-Enterprise: "I think the idea of divide and conquer is a tried and true tactic. I can't speak for the Indians, but if there was somebody looking to help Bustamante, this would be the way to do it."

Why? People have asked you to stop, but do you?
Wasn't it you that commented on the heat of the kitchen?
You want nothing but to divide. I want unity. You support intolerance, I support tolerance. You expound exclusion, I expund inclusion. Your's is a God of Hate, mine is of love. Your's is a world of fear, mine a world of freedom.

I would not be surprised if the Clintons are engineering a lot of this. The modus operandi is the same. The lies are the same. Its got the same slimey feel to it, maybe you're right.

And there is the added advantage for them of sowing more and more distrust by adding oxygen and fuel to these burning feuds. Were it not for the Indian tribes, McClintock wouldn't have as much of an ability to keep hammering Arnold.
It's in the Left's interest to keep the right divided - and those who would push the divisions ought to receive a lot of scrutiny.

That bears repeating, and due consideration.

NO on-line source, but I've heard the quote before. You'd probably have to find an old magazine. Thank you for the reply. I've done a little searching online since I asked the question, and have found nothing. I think I will have to track down that magazine; the article about the gubernatorial campaign would be very interesting.
Thank you again for the quote. It capsulates this whole conflict perfectly.

You are indicted by your own two-faced words. Why don't you peddle your maggot-infested "principles" and troll the sewer at DU along with your allies at the soul-less ACLU?

Dan,
I want to apologize and ask your forgiveness for my post this morning (number 582). It was harsh, mean and not worthy of something from a Christian. After I left for work this morning, I was convicted of what I wrote and I have wanted to apologize. I acted poorly.
I would also like to apologize to others (LisaAnne, PhiKappaMom and 68 grunt) for any offense I may have caused you.
Dan, if you would point me to where you have posted your reasons for supporting Mr. Schwarzenegger (despite his pro-abortion position, support for homosexual domestic partnerships and other issues), I would be happy to read it. Or if your website is available, I will look at that.
I do not understand where or how I have lied about you or your positions. If you would explain that, I would be willing to listen.
As a Christian, I am very hurt by the Christians on this website and elsewhere who will support Mr. Schwarzenegger. Abortion in America is a national tragedy and I believe that the abortionists, judges, politicians, men who push women to have them, women who have them, and people who elect pro-abortion politicians are responsible for this slaughter of 35 million to 40 million unborn children. I will not and cannot ever vote for a politician who supports abortion, or homosexual domestic partnerships, undermining marriage. Political power or any other issues pale, to me, in comparison to the Biblical teachings on abortion.
Again, I apologize to all four of you for my actions earlier today and I wish you a good evening.

Why do you think McClintock is being rejected by the CA Republicans especially since he's been in politics and the Republican party all his adult life. Duh! Because he's a conservative! The RINO's in CA HATE conservative Republicans more than they hate democrats. That's obvious! Sheeeesh. Go, McClintock! www.helptom.com

Saundra, its because he is unelectable! If Arnie hadn't come along, bustamecha would be governor. You vote has been cast, hasn't it? You've said you prefer bustamecha, right? I don't particularly want you in my party, the Republican Party. You chase away too many votes.

Rest assured - no true conservative would vote for a democRAT. I detest bustamante!! I actually voted for Tom Campbell for U.S. Senate because there was no other choice. He was a RINO's RINO and he failed miserably. He is a sharp guy, though, but no one has heard from him since. WE DON'T LIKE RINO's!! Arnold is a huge RINO! If he wins, the Kennedy's will run the state. What is it about that you don't understand?

I don't particularly want you in my party, the Republican PartyMy Party, too. Everybody is welcome. Just don't tell me HOW TO VOTE!!! This is America! If the conservatives would stick together, we could get McClintock in there. But along comes the big star and everybody gets starry eyed and all excited. Schwarznkennedy could not win a primary in this state. Look what happened to Riordan! Look what happened to Tom Campbell! Scharznkennedy IS A DEMOCRAT in sheep's clothing. Give me a break.

To: Saundra Duffy
Saundra, you're wonderful when your so upset you can hardly see straight. I would have supported McX, all of us would have. McX would have lost. Along comes Arnie. He can win! He's pretty cool, he can bring in cross votes, he's an outsider so he might be able to clean house in Sacramento. Your shrill hysteria is not becoming, but please feel free to continue. Oh yes, didn't you say you'd already voted, just so you couldn't change your mind.

A vote for Schwarzenegger is a vote for the Kennedy's to run California. A vote for Schwarznkennedy is a vote for abortion! A vote for same sex marriage and more perversion.
McClintock signed the Marriage Protection Pledge. Arnold refused to sign it.
I could go on and on. Those of us who back McClintock are getting beat up pretty bad. Oh, well. I won't back off. If someone paid me one million dollars, I still wouldn't vote for Schwarznkennedy. I MEAN IT!!! Not for a million dollars!
I couldn't sleep at night if I voted for a pro abortion, pro gun control, pro radical gay agenda, RINO. Not when I have McClintock on the ballot! A real pro life conservative Republican.
Go, McClintock! www.helptom.com
