Schwarzenegger: McClintock a Pawn of Pro-Bustamante Indians
NewsMax ^ | Spet. 19, 2003 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 09/19/2003 8:52:17 PM PDT by FairOpinion

American Indians who are supporting Democrat front-runner Cruz Bustamante in California are also promoting Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, and GOP front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger is furious.

"I think that as far as Tom McClintock is concerned, I think the question I have for him is, what side is he on?" Schwarzenegger said Thursday. "Is he on the side of the Republicans? Does he represent the Republicans, or does he represent Bustamante?"

Schwarzenegger suggested that the tribes were abetting Bustamante by trying to split the Republican vote.

"They are financing his commercials and TV spots and all that," said Schwarzenegger, who doesn't take money from Indian tribes. "He knows they're financing him not because they want him to be governor. They just want to interfere with the process so that Bustamante wins. He has to decide which side is he on, the Republicans' or Bustamante's."

McClintock called Schwarzenegger's comments "a ridiculous statement by a man who obviously hasn't paid much attention to California public affairs. ... For 20 years, I have fought to protect sovereignty on reservation lands, well before there was gaming.

"If they wanted to hurt Schwarzenegger, they would be making an independent expenditure to hurt Schwarzenegger, and Lord knows there's plenty they could hurt him with."

Assemblyman John Benoit, R-Palm Desert, a Schwarzenegger supporter, told the Riverside Press-Enterprise: "I think the idea of divide and conquer is a tried and true tactic. I can't speak for the Indians, but if there was somebody looking to help Bustamante, this would be the way to do it."

Just curious..... leaving the Christian thing out of it.... but do you think McClintock is a massive offense to many of the CA Republicans?

Republican Voters Schwarzenegger McClintock
Public Policy Institute 47% 24%
CA Field Poll 43% 28%
USA Survey Poll 56% 25%
CA C of C Poll 44% 23%

Why do you think McClintock is being rejected by the CA Republicans especially since he's been in politics and the Republican party all his adult life. What do they know that has turned them off to McClintock?

But in the general election, voting for a DemocRAT is not an option!

Alas, that is not the view of the "true" conservatives. Electing a RAT is preferable to electing a Republican that does not live up to their 100% purist model.

You're badgering him, seeking his exclusion from the group. Ain't gonna happen, he's loved and cherished around here. He is a voice of reason, your's is a voice of disruption.

I'v enotice in some elments of the conservative movement a distaste for folks who do not entirely toe the party line and even an acceptance of the notyion of government intervening to enact a certain social agenda.

There also seems to be a growingnumber of folks who are tyring to be the Mikhail Suslovs of the conservative movement. I seem to be seen as some sort of "phony conservative" or "RINO" because I don't toe the line on certain issues, and because I see no problem with enjoying Howard Stern's radio show in the morning...

Yes, ma'am, I have noticed. They continue to damage Republicans, conservatives and Christians. This is their goal!

I would not be surprised if the Clintons are engineering a lot of this.

Think - Clinton gets into the White House in 1992 due to the split Perot created in the GOP's coalition. And so, wherever possible, they will try to cause similar splits.

In some cases, it will be funneling money to someone who appeals to the hard-core types. Given the money the Indian tribes are donating to McClintock, I have some serious concerns that this is the case.

Welcome to the RINO Club on here which a lot of us now belong -- do believe they have the wrong name for us and should be using it for themselves. I haven't seen one Arnold supporter say they wouldn't vote for McC if Arnold had pulled out of the race but I have seen McC folks say they will never vote for Arnold and would vote for Cruz instead.

Now who is the RINO -- Republicans that vote for their candidate and not a RAT or those who threaten to sit out and not vote to see a RAT elected to teach the rest of us a lesson. The answer is quite simple -- RINO award goes to those that stay home or vote for the RAT to teach us a lesson!

Anyways welcome to the Club on here -- our numbers are growing by the day!

Your concerns are right on target. And we are not the RINOS - the ones helping to elect Bustamonte are...or maybe we should say WHINOS.

>>"Dear F16Fighter, please feel free to start the Christian Party. You would do the Republican Party a huge favor! That way you could have everyone of the principled votes!"<<

"Note the position by the vocal SchwarzenKennedy supporters...Christians need not apply, principled voters need not apply, Conservatives need not apply!"

Bullseye!

And yet these people incredulously expect -- NO -- demand that conservatives and Christians betray and sell out the principles and ideology that traditionally defines the GOP, though Arnold represents NONE of it. Oh, that's right right -- It's Arnold (R) so let's all drink from the cauldron of kool-ade and pretend The Terminator is actually a Republican who represents our values.

"It seems that the Arn-holes have more and more in common with the demonRATs every day!

Amazingly true -- but dis is vhat happens when da RINOs run scared like little flabby, girly-men ;-)

I blame the deaths of those babes on compromisers like you.

Kinda severe in your hyperbole. I blame the loss of the middleground on you and your ilk, who have robbed us of any power or influence with your intolerance and bigotry.
