FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNION THUGS SAVAGELY ATTACK COLLEGE KIDS AT A GRAY DAVIS SPEECH FOR SUPPORTING PROP 54, PROP 54 CAMPAIGN CHAIR WARD CONNERLY DECLARES IT AN ‘OUTRAGE’

SACRAMENTO, CALIF.--Ward Connerly, chairman of the Yes on Proposition 54 campaign, angrily denounced the savage attack several men from an unidentified union and carrying “No on Prop 54” signs unleashed on six college students.

The students, all members of the California College Republicans and in their early 20s, were peacefully protesting at a voter-registration rally held in south Los Angeles and featuring Governor Gray Davis and former Vice President Al Gore. The students stood respectfully outside and carried “Yes on Prop 54” signs.

They were approached by a gang of men, all wearing union shirts and carrying “No on Prop 54” signs, who began verbally harassing them and physically intimidating them by holding their signs over those of the students, standing threateningly close and following them when the students tried to retreat to a safe distance. They also shouted down the students with racial slurs and called one of the female students a “white-washed Mexican.”

Then about 15 of the “No on 54” thugs surrounded two girls, hit them in the face and pulled their hair. Another student who tried to rescue the girls got punched in the back. Finally, all of the students managed to escape to their car and drive away, all the while being followed and yelled at by their bullying attackers. Representatives of the media, including the Los Angeles Times, NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN were present, but it’s unclear how much of the attack they witnessed.

“I cannot express enough my disgust and contempt for brutes who express their political beliefs by beating up on anyone, especially young females,” said Mr. Connerly. “My sympathies go out to the students who had to endure this outrage. They are extremely courageous people who stand up and declare their beliefs, even at risk of bodily harm. I’m proud they stand among the supporters of Prop 54.”

Prop 54 will bar the state and all local California governments from classifying individuals by race in the areas of public education, employment, contracting and most other government operations. Reasonable exemptions exist for medical research subjects and patients, racial classifications required by federal law or for federal funds and certain activities of law enforcement. The state legislature, by a two-thirds vote and with the governor’s approval, can vote to exempt any other reasonable area. Also, the Department of Fair Housing and Employment will receive a 10-year sun-setting exemption.

Members of the media wishing for more information on the attack or who want to get in touch with any of the students can do so by contacting the Yes on Prop 54 office. For more information on Prop 54, please go to www.racialprivacy.org.

ok what I meant by right to work is NOT have to join a union to work

Thank you for clarifying. It sounds then, by your definition, that the union mobs already run the state, eh?

I believe you are right. I could only imagine what it will take to straighten it out

It's going to take people like Freepers, solid people throughout every single institution to stand up against the thugs. Some people avoid standing their ground. In some cases, it is understandable, life has so many variables. But what I see far too often is the "magic pill" mentality -- it's a state of arrested adolescent emotionalism. That's the hardest part of restoring sanity, reasonableness and the rule of law -- the me, mine, and me mentality.

I haven't seen any pictures, yet. And the union shirts obviously did not have "union #xxx" on them, as most union shirtswearers sport.

Someone posted that NBC showed some clips of the assault. I appreciate your insight; too many years of seeing the media blind leading the audience blind. Yep.

I haven't seen the photos, yet. But I'll betcha!... the t-shirts had the word "UNION" or "UNIONS" on them. :) I'll also betcha, these t-shirts were identical to the shirts being worn by the guys who assaulted Freepers at the Recall rally. Just a hunch, here.
