JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Pressure is mounting on the Nigerian government to spare the life of a Muslim woman condemned to death by stoning for adultery.

An Islamic court in the northern Nigerian city of Katsina will next week rule on whether to acquit 31-year-old single mother Amina Lawal on charges of adultery, or uphold the sentence of death by stoning.

She did nothing that calls for death in a cruel and unusual manner like this. Though I can well picture seeing Clinton a time or two having slipped into the Rose Garden to get stoned to get into the mood for a romp in the Oval office.

two different kinds of getting stoned with irony all over the place as we see him and wifey still sticking it to the American people.

Hope she excapes her planned punishment. She is alot more innocent the some others who were guilty of more serious things, so why not?

Yup. This is what CAIR and other American Muslim groups want for the USA. Sharia--Islamic law straight out of the barbaric 7th Century.

Oh, and notice how the Mooslim male in this adultery situation is off the hook, er, stoning.

If Muslims and "Liberals", their Western enablers, have their way, the shariah will become international law.

The only fair way to conclude this episode is for both the man and the woman to suffer concurrent stoning to death for their crime against the Sharia.

Easson Jordan, President of the International Division of CNN, can later explain to us that he knew all about the slavery in Africa and the atrocities of Islamic law, but they couldn't tell us.

Question: is adultery also punishable by stoning if the guilty party is male? If so, then it's a humans right issue, not a women's issue.

Then again, it takes two to commit adultery, and I don't see any mention of the male she romped with here.

Hey, they're just trying to uphold Islamic law and fight AIDS in their own special way.

What's so bad about doing what Allah tells you to do?

Only the woman is guilty. Just another of the "enlightened" beliefs of "the religion of peace".

"Day 4", and still no islamofascist-apologists to interpret this correctly. This thread is doomed to ignorance.

Lawal gave birth on January 6 last year, more than two years after her divorce but only six-and-a-half months after Katsina formally reinstituted Islamic Shariah law.

Sounds like some sort of an ex post facto issue here. At least. What a world!

What's so bad about doing what Allah tells you to do?

But did Allah really tell us this? Or did Mohammad lie to us about what Allah really said? Do you have verifiable evidence that Allah ever actually spoke to Mohammed?

I suspect that Mohammed pulled a cruel hoax on the poor ignorant uneducated people of the 7th century tribes, that has persisted to this day, and has proven to be much more a tool of political behavior control and brainwashing than anything religious.

Aiiieee! You have defamed Allah's Prophet! A jihad on you! Jihad! JIHAAAAAD! [ululating] La la la la la! Jihad! Death to the blasphemer!

On the other hand, you have pretty much nailed my studied opinion of Islam right on the head.

Nigerian law run its course, the supreme court -- which was guided by the country's bill of rights -- would have to hear the case if the Shariah court in the north of the country upheld the death sentence.Should

Do I sense here what this is really all about - a power struggle between the Shariah north and the national government?
