This is the debate Arnold is calling the "Superbowl of Debates." Some Superbowl, if the "teams" are a no show.The guy's an actor. If it were the Supbowl, he'd probably want a script of what all of the plays were going to be, ahead of time.
Has he done a press conference yet, where the reporters could just ask him tough, unexpected questions?

Yes, his press conference back in August for one, regarding his Economic Recovery Council... approximately 45 minutes long and about 30 minutes of that were questions from the press.

Running the government is NOT a "closed book surprise quiz".
You find out the problem, study it, your advisors study it, then go and look at additional things and so on.
Having quick facts at your fingertips is NOT what makes a great leader.
Heck, Bush didn't remember off the top of his head the name of Musharraff -- but he handled Pakistan just fine, when it became important.
