Clinton aides deny any waffling on senator's non-candidacy Thursday September 18, 2003 MARC HUMBERT AP Political Writer ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Has he not gotten the message? Is the message changing? Is there a disagreement in the household about the message? What is up with the Clintons?
Aides to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Clinton were again knocking down speculation Thursday that she might jump into the race for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination.
The latest spark came from an appearance Tuesday in Monterey, Calif., during which the former president was asked about just that, and seemed to hint that it might still be a possibility.
``That's really a decision for her to make,'' Clinton said, according to a report in The Californian newspaper. The former president also said his wife was being urged by New Yorkers to run despite a commitment she has made, repeatedly, to serve her full, six-year term that doesn't end until 2006.
However, the former first lady's camp insisted Thursday there was no waffling on her I'm-not-running stance.
``Senator Clinton has repeatedly said that she will serve out her full six-year term,'' said spokesman Philippe Reines. ``She loves her job, and is working on being the best senator she can be for the people of New York.''
The former president's office seemed to be on board.
``He has said it is her decision, and she has decided,'' said Jim Kennedy, a spokesman for the former president.
Late last month, while visiting the State Fair in Syracuse, Sen. Clinton was asked about speculation she might jump into the race. She had said: ``I am absolutely ruling it out.''
That statement came after a review of her campaign Web site found it loaded with e-mail messages urging her to run for president. Clinton staffers decide which of the e-mail messages to display.
A review of the Web site's ``Hill's Notes'' section on Thursday found that the first 16 e-mail messages displayed contained no mention of her running for the White House.
I bet these reporters have a Microsoft Word template that begins all stories with these three words.

Well, they're rabid socialist collectivists who hate this country, want to destroy it and rule the world via the UN....
And they'll do ANYTHING for attention.
My thoughts exactly--but where to?
Laughing soooo hard at that name! I like it much better than the Ashley Wilkes Clark thingie.
But I don't see Clark as Hillary's stalking horse.
Heah me now an beleeeve me latah....Hillary is not going to run in 2004.
Clark is the Clintons puppet all right, and he will be her running mate in 2008. He's in on the fix, and this time around he's just out there at the Clintons urging, to learn the ropes, get better known, and rake in the dough.
Everything is guesswork...but one thing we know for certain, the Clintons don't want any democrat to win in 2004. That would complicate her 2008 run. I think the Clintons would be really happy with a sure fire losing, Dean-Clark ticket this time around.
One little, two little THREE little idiots...
Four little, five little, six little idiots...
Seven little, eight little, NINE little idiots...
TEN little id...no...ELEVEN little...nope, here comes another one...TWELVE lit...THIRT..no, FOURTEENFIFTEENSIXTEEN...no I counted that one twice, they keep moving around...so that's FIFTEEN little...DARNIT, there's another one, THAT's sixteen...oh I give UP!
Agreed. This "refusing the crown" act isn't fooling me, either.
I'll believe she's not running if, and only if, after Election Day 2004, she really, honestly, no-kidding, seriously, absolutely, positively did not appear on the ballot at any time.
And even then, I would be suspicious.
