This is an excerpt:
TAMPA -- An industrial rock band's claim that it will feature a "live suicide" onstage during a St. Petersburg gig next month has gotten the attention of the concert hall's owners and police.
The Tampa group, Hell on Earth, said on its Web site that a terminally ill member of a right-to-die group planned to commit suicide on stage during an Oct. 4 performance at the State Theater.
The volunteer, who the Web site said would not be identified until the day of the show, wanted to carry out the suicide onstage to "raise awareness for dying with dignity."
...
Hundley said Hell on Earth played the venue a couple of years ago and has been known to stage some strange stunts, such as chocolate-syrup wrestling and grinding up rats in a blender.
...
But the band shouldn't expect applause from right-to-die advocates, said David Goldberg, spokesman for the Denver-based End-of-Life Choices, formerly the Hemlock Society.

I'd say stop them from grinding up rats --- but let them carry out their suicide --- but make sure they don't just do an attempt but finish themselves off good. Who needs these people?

In Switzerland numbers were finally published to allow computation for the contribution of suicide (inclusive attempts) to BRUTTO NATIONAL PRODUCT in industrialised countries. 1.8 Bill. USD divided by 7.2 millions inhabitants = 250 USD per capita. http://www.nzz.ch/2003/09/11/english/page-synd4228138.html thereby is appropriate the suicide portion of that for GROS DOMESTIC PRODUCT by capita over that Higher than the BRUTTO NATIONAL PRODUCT per capita in Mozambique (230 USD) and Angola (220 USD). http://www.clickafrique.com/Reference.asp?param=GDPCapita

BTW : Mozambique and Angola represent together approx. 45% the sustainable agricultural area in Africa (South Africa excepted).

Dave Hundley, one of the owners of the theater, said he found out about it via an e-mailed press release Monday. He said he was hoping to talk with band members to determine whether they planned to carry out the stunt or were trying to generate publicity. "If I have an inkling that this is for real, I need to worry about it," Hundley said Tuesday. He stopped short of saying he would cancel the gig, for which the band paid to rent the downtown St. Petersburg theater.
In the Rolling Stone article, he claims that it is not a publicity stunt or illegal. If he didn't want publicity, he would have kept it secret until it happened on-stage. Now the press will pump it up. I can guarantee he wouldn't have gotten ink in Rolling Stone magazine without it.
That Rolling Stone article also had this detail that was missing from the AP one:
...whose past stage stunts, according to Tourtelot, include having intercourse with cows...

Better look up the statutes on necrophillia in St. Petersburg. These guys have claimed to have had sex with a cow onstage.
If the authorities aren't prepared, the band might try to sexually violate the corpse.

And to think that they charged Jim Morrison with lewd and lascivious behavior, indecent exposure and open profanity for a concert in Miami. But hey, that was 30+ years ago...

LOL! Just another excuse to blame someone else - "demons from within". Geesh! Irresponsibility in death no less.

You're kidding, right? What happened with Milli Vanilli? I've never heard of him/her.

Band's plan for onstage suicide is investigatedNothing new. If you can stomach it, do a search for gg allin. It's gut wrenching stuff about a psychotic rock singer whose persona and escapades make Marilyn Manson and other shock rock clones look choir boys. Oddly, gg makes sense occasionally, but I believe he was the first to announce and lobby for an onstage suicide. He OD'd.
