I was talking to someone at UVA yesterday who acted like the hurricane was going to pass right on by C'ville. I was kind of amazed. I was telling her VCU was closed today and tomorrow and she was incredulous. Didn't have a clue.

The major problem here in C-ville will be, as always, flooding, downed trees and no power.

Many housing developments over the last decade have gone up in rural portions of the county. Consequently, roads and power lines to these areas were put in that did not take into consideration heavy rains or snows. Rural roads get flooded and power lines come down around here extremely easily due to falling tree limbs. I heard the power company has brought in "loaned" personnel from other states to take care of 'anticipated' outages.
