So? How bad is it in your area right now? I'm worried about one of our buddies. He's a Sailor and went on Leave back home to New Bern, North Carolina. We haven't been able to reach his cellphone yet. The Navy is worried as well. I pray for his, yours, and everyone else's safety! *HUGS* to all! We'll all be fine. Just wish Isabel would go back to the Ocean and drown herself. LOL!

New Bern is quite aways further east of Raleigh, where Howlin is. It's closer to Morehead City, and on the Neuse River, if I'm not mistaken.
They're not getting it as bad as the beach areas, but it's worse than here. I'm in the Raleigh area as well.

I doubt New Bern has power. I believe that I heard yesterday that the peak of the storm surge was supposed to be on the Neuse River at New Bern. And even in good weather the cell coverage there is abysmal.

I heard last night that New Bern locked down.

Update on WRAL-TV web page on New Bern:
A storm surge of 5 to 6 feet was reported at Cape Hatteras, with about 4 feet in the Neuse River at New Bern, N.C., the hurricane center said.
