Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem the second most sacred spot in Islam

I thought Medina was #2? The birthplace of ole mo, don't ya know. The dome and Jerusalem aren't mentioned in the Koran or the Hadishes(sp). It didn't become important religiously until it was a political tool.
