MUSLIM APOCALYPTIC WRITERS INDICATE FUTURE STRIKES ON NEW YORK AND VATICAN

Muslim apocalyptic writers indicate that the long-term targets of terrorism will continue to be Washington and New York -- along with the Vatican.

This is apparent from recent Islamic literature that focuses on what many Muslims believe is a coming anti-christ-like figure called the Dajjal, who will supposedly spring up from the U.S. and "Greater Israel," defined by many Muslims as worldwide Jewish influence propelled by the United States. They see endless mishaps for America and its largest city, from nuclear war to natural calamities by which -- in the words of one of the writers, Muhammad `Isa Da'ud -- "the sea will swallow up New York."

"There can be no doubt of the profound hostility entertained by Muslim apocalyptic writers towards the United States, and their intense desire to humiliate it and see it destroyed forever," notes David Cook of the University of Chicago.

In chilling references that predate September 11, Muslim philosophers -- including at least one said to have influenced Bin Laden -- have used terms like "partial strike" and link it to the war over Kuwait as well as the immorality they saw as flourishing in the West, especially under the Clinton Administration. In a bizarre rendering of symbols, Muslim apocalypticists have cited Jeremiah 50:2 and 51:44, where the figure of "Bel" (a Babylonian god) is "punished in Babylon." They connect "Bel" to "Bill" Clinton.

But it isn't just Bill Clinton; the venom is spread wide and far. According to one scenario set forth by Muslim apocalypticist Bashir Muhammad 'Abdallah, the first battle of the End Times was the Kuwait War of 1991, which he refers to as the Third World War as he links America to "the Masons and other secret Jewish organizations."

In Muslim apocalyptic literature, America is associated with "Ad," a city whose destruction is detailed in the Koran. Ad was an advanced civilization, according to Cook, who has studied the Muslim apocalyptic interpretations and quotes Abdallah as seeing Ad as a civilization that "could predict weather and possessed other advanced technology.

"They had advanced weaponry and organized sports and cultural events," Cook writes, summarizing the Muslim beliefs regarding the evil power they had to overthrow. "These, however, were merely for pleasure, not for the purpose of glorifying God. Their buildings were skyscrapers [speaking of their capital, Iram dhat al-`Imad], just as in New York."

Therefore, says Abdallah, "America deserves now, according to the sunna of God regarding the punishment of nations, a partial strike like that which caught Ad." In the matter of earthquakes or khasfs, says Cook, the Muslim apocalyptic writers believe America will be targeted "and specifically New York City, which is called the 'great Babylon.'"

But if such literature is predictive of where terrorists -- believing they are doing God's bidding -- may also strike, other cities may bear similar concerns. In future apocalyptic scenarios the writers see missiles destroying a total of "five American cities," says Cook.

Time and again, reference is made to the war with Iraq over Kuwait -- which ironically now figures so prominently into the current presidency of former President Bush's son. New York is focused upon by Muslim fanatics because "there are more Jews than in other places, and in it is their wealth, their banks, their political foundations which control the entire world, so there is no evil greater than in New York in any other place on the inhabited earth, and for this reason their portion of the punishment will be greater in measure and it will be a total uprooting," notes Cook in his splendid scholarship.

The destruction of New York and the U.S. by everything from war to earthquakes is accompanied by ominous Islamic prophetic interpretations that have the U.S. defeated in Jerusalem.

"After this," notes Cook, "the victorious Muslims will conquer Europe and destroy the 'idolatrous church in the Vatican.'

"This will lead to the brief reign of the Mahdi, which will be ended by the physical appearance of the Dajjal himself, who will gather another huge army to fight the Battle of Armageddon."

The "Mahdi" is a messianic figure whom some radicals now associate with Osama Bin Laden. According to Muslim writers, the Mahdi will proclaim himself in Mecca and move against Jordan, which will be ruled by a Jew.

"Then America will live through the worst disaster in its history," writes Muhammad 'Isa Da'ud. "This disaster will be the destruction of New York by a terrible flood after a terrifying series of explosions nearby makes the surrounding waters swallow it up as if it is an ant inside a terrifying star of heat and water."

In the perspective of these Muslim writers, "Florida also suffers nuclear explosions of unknown origin and this triggers even more explosions as the American nuclear arsenal in the area detonates."

After the disabling of the U.S., much of Europe will convert to Islam, in the view of modern Muslim prophetic writers, but there will be one stumbling block. "This ideal state of affairs is wrecked by the Vatican, since groups of saboteurs under Roman Catholic control are caught, and brought before the Mahdi," says Cook. "They confess who sent them to him personally and to representatives of the foreign countries. Then the Mahdi proclaims that his armies are moving to the Vatican and going to attack Rome."

It is a sobering warning on both short-term and long-term radical Muslim intentions. Let us make clear that this is not a view held by the majority of those who adhere to Islam. But it is prevalent in large circles that have spawned groups like Hamas and al-Qaeda. "Washington, the city of the American White House, where the policies of Satan are made, and the cursed Congress, whose decisions are led by the devil, and approved by the anti-christ -- fires swallow them up and they become past tense," writes the Muslim writer Da'ud.

Why the World Trade Center? Why the Pentagon? Besides the obvious nature of these symbols, they relate to the prophetic view of future events. "Bin Laden lives in a symbolic universe which reads apocalyptically," says another scholar, Richard Landes, director of the Center for Millennial Studies at Boston University.

"We need to consider both issues -- the motivations of Bin Laden and the Arab-Israeli conflict in light of Islamism and its apocalyptic world view. Bin Laden is a central player in a cosmic battle that pits the warriors for truth against the agents of Satan and evil in this world. The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has now publicly warned that Moslem Terrorists may next use biochemical or nuclear weapons against America. The consensus is widespread among Western professional military and geopolitical analysts that this is now a clear possibility. Radical Islamists throughout the entire Moslem world are whipping people into a rabid frenzy of rage against America.

There is absolutely no way to placate or appease or negotiate with these people. There is absolutely no way that America will not militarily assault the bastions of Moslem Terrorism and make every effort to hunt down and kill Osama Bin Laden, his followers, and all those who participated in the atrocity of September 11. Any appeals to not do so because it will not end "the cycle of violence" will fall on deaf American ears, and rightly so. We want these bastards put to death.

We will do this. Yet the threat of a far more murderous next round of terror is fully real. But how could it be stopped? How can you stop people who are willing to die for their evil cause? How can you protect every plane, every building, every place in which a suitcase nuke could be hidden, every water supply that could be poisoned with biochemical agents? The answer is that you can't. So what can we do, how can we possibly protect ourselves from these impossibly insane monsters?

Let's look at it another way. Moslem Terrorists come from different countries. They aren't located in any one place or nation. We are not at war with a nation-state, like Japan or Germany, but a phenomenon, a will-o'the-wisp wraith that's nowhere in particular and could be everywhere. So we can't defeat them geographically. How else can we defeat them? Yes, we can and must send military forces, mostly Special Operations teams, to hunt them down and kill them individually. But let's go deeper.

What do all Moslem Terrorists have in common no matter where they come from? Obviously, they are all Moslems. Hunting them down and killing them individually will take time. And they are not afraid to die, as they are convinced by dying in a Jihad against America they will go to Moslem Heaven. Is there, then, a threat we could quite credibly make to all of them as a whole, a threat so terrifying and horrible that they might cease any further attempt to attack America and civilization?

Yes, there is - a threat to utterly obliterate for all time the sacred center of their religion, the Holy City of Mecca.

The one and only thing that would shake a Moslem Terrorist's soul to the core, that would cause him to abandon his activities, that would pour ice cold water on the boiling rage against America emerging throughout the Moslem world, is if the President of the United States went on world television and gave the following speech:

"My fellow Americans and fellow citizens of the civilized world: I have today ordered the targeting of our intercontinental nuclear ballistic missiles on the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. It is not that the Holy City of Mecca will be targeted if there is another terror attack upon America as bad or worse than that of September 11. It is that Mecca is now already targeted.

"Military officers in the most secure bunkers in the world have their fingers on the nuclear button as we speak. If there is another terrorist attack on America that kills thousands of Americans, that button will be pushed. Once that button is pushed, the missile is on its way, and there is no power on earth nor beyond that can stop the complete and total obliteration of the sacred center of the Moslem religion - forever.

"I realize what a terrible threat this is. But America is faced with the most evil and incomprehensibly monstrous threat such that only the most incomprehensibly monstrous threat to those that threaten us will protect us. So let me now speak to those in the world who wish to destroy our civilization. America is the only nation that has used nuclear weapons, and we make no apologies for it. We were attacked at Pearl Harbor and we put an end to it at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So you know we are capable of doing what we say.

"You attacked us in New York and Washington, slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians - and we will put an end to it in Mecca if you attack us again, so help me God.

"I also realize that the vast majority of Moslems in the world do not support terrorism and will be horrified by my pronouncement. I must be frank with you. The people who threaten us claim to be Moslems, claim to be motivated by the teachings and beliefs of your religion. Moslem Terrorism is a sickness, a moral disease within the Moslem community. It must be your job, then, to rid and cure your community of this disease. We want peace. That is all we are asking for, not to be terrorized. If the threat I am instituting today is what it takes to achieve that, so be it. Get this poison out of your community, cure the sickness within the souls of your fellow Moslems, and our fingers will come off the button - but not until.

"The attack on America on September 11 was an attack on civilization itself. As your President, I vow that I will do whatever it takes to protect our country and our civilization. My decision today should be seen in that light. May God Bless America."

What makes this threat so credible is not only our history but that public opinion polls are showing that over one-third of Americans are in favor of using nuclear weapons to go after Osama Bin Laden. Now - let's take a deep breath at this point. It was the threat of thermonuclear war that prevented the Cold War from becoming hot. The threat was so horrific nukes were never used. This is the purpose of the threat to nuke Mecca. No threat to nuke or flatten any other place, Baghdad or Afghanistan, would remotely do as much good. Only the threat - the believable threat -- to destroy the one place utterly sacred to the Moslem Terrorists will be effective. The terrorists must understand that when left alone, Americans are peaceful. But when Americans are attacked like at Pearl Harbor or New York, we become the meanest, nastiest, most ruthless sons-of-bitches on the planet. While we are engaged in hunting them down and killing them, the terrorists must understand that if they attack us again we will wipe Mecca off the face of this earth.

Thus the threat to Nuke Mecca may result in a kind of Cold War standoff - don't kill us in a germ war attack, we don't vaporize the Kaaba. So the threat just gives us a breathing space. What has to come after is a comprehensive geopolitical plan to bring Islam in general and the Arab world in particular into the civilized world. One of the most important is to launch a serious demand for Arab Democracy.

The Arab world is a morass of fascism and dictatorship. While history demonstrates that democracies very rarely fight each other, the West refuses to demand the democratization of dictatorships like Syria and the Palestinian Authority for the demand is a slippery slope to the democratization and possible resultant destabilization of Saudi Arabia, the world's great supplier of oil.

Yet there is no other path to peace in the Middle East, either regarding Israel or Islam vs. America, other than the democratization of the entire Middle East including Saudi Arabia. Couple this with the fact that the threat to nuke Mecca would drive the Saudis around an apoplectic bend as Mecca is in their country. This means we have to move quickly to secure major alternatives to the supply of oil:

* Saddam Hussein has to finally be assassinated and Iraq - a make-believe country in the first place, created by the Brits after World War I - dismembered. Turkey would get the Kirkuk oil fields on the condition to give the Kurds regional autonomy. Iran would get Basra on the condition to abandon radical Islam, whereupon its pipelines could carry Caspian Sea oil to its port at Bandar Abbas. A pro-West Iran would flourish. Baghdad would end up a city-state, to either democratically and capitalistically prosper or end up like the abandoned ruins of Babylon.

* Nigeria must be secured, with President Olesegun Obasanjo assisted in truly ending rapacious corruption, instituting the rule of law, providing regional autonomy, and stabilizing his country.

* The rule of Castro-wannabe Hugo Chavez in Venezuela must be terminated. The US imports more oil from Venezuela than from Saudi and Chavez is destroying both its economy and political institutions.

* A joint military task force from the armies of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru must be formed with US cooperation to militarily eradicate the FARC and other narco-marxist guerrillas from Colombia.

* Obviously ANWR in Alaska must be drilled, and a crash program to develop methods to safely and efficiently extract the two trillion (yes, with a 't') barrels of oil presently locked into tarsand deposits in the US and Canada.

With no resultant need for dependence upon Saudi oil, the Arab democratization can proceed apace. In tandem with the democratization of Islam would be the worldwide promotion of "Jadidism" as the Islamic alternative to "Jihadism." The Jadid ("New") Movement arose in Central Asia 100 years ago, and was snuffed out by the Soviets. It's revival is the means by which a modernized Islam embracing and flourishng in the civilized world can end envious Jihadism.

These are all medium and long-range goals. The immediate goal for America right now, in addition to physically liquidating the perpetrators and sponsors of September 11, is to do something so shocking, make a threat so stupefyingly outrageous, to Moslem Terrorists that they would abandon further attacks upon us. A clear and credible threat to Nuke Mecca is that something. It will undoubtedly cause a good many Moslems around the world to indulge in all kinds of anti-American spasms - riots, attacks on embassies, and the like. But this is full out war. We've got to risk casualties and unpleasantness. Riots don't mean a thing compared to tens or hundreds of thousands of Americans being killed in a germ or biochemical attack. This is what must be prevented at all cost.

Besides, the threat to Nuke Mecca is not the only threat that would stop the terrorists in their tracks, To show them we mean business, we could offer to blow the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem to smithereens. It wouldn't even take nukes - a handful of Tomahawk cruise missiles with conventional warheads would do the job quite easily. After the second most sacred spot in Islam is a pile of rubble, it would dawn on them that we really do have the chutzpah to nuclearize their holiest of holies. Once the Moslem Terrorists, their supporters and sponsors and apologizers, are faced with the systematic destruction of all that is sacred to them, we stand the chance of being left alone in peace.
