[history]
Oakley (AP) - Lisa McClelland says she isn't a racist. She says her campaign for a Caucasian Club at Freedom High School in the eastern Contra Costa County town of Oakley is a move toward diversity, not bigotry.
McClelland says everyone is invited - and nobody will be excluded.

"....I wonder what a Caucasian-American festival at a local Caucasian-American church will look like."
It'll be great! Balony sandwiches on white bread, Yankee Pot Roast, you know, all those ethnic foods. (Ethnic to me cuz I go home to beans and torillas.)
Alright Lisa! You go, girl!

I think it will be quickly squelched by the principal, who is probably more concerned with being PC and showing diversity (read: appeasing minorities) than with any real student rights. She might as well wear a KICK ME sign around school.

Idiot!
You'll never go to a Kwansaa party in Africa either.
There are no warm fuzzy 'relationships' between Hutu and Tutsi in Rwanda, between Ibo and whomever in Nigeria, or between Bushmen and Zulu, and on and on and on....
There is no reason why Brits and Serbs should not be included in a larger entity - it's called inclusion (rather than diversity).
Since African-American and "hispanic" are geographic descriptions, she might have gone for 'euro-Americans' but we don't get that option on our census forms.
And by the way:
"caucasian" includes a bunch of people you'd not imediately identify as "white".

Oh, the irony!

I respectfully disagree with your incoherent rantings

Balony sandwiches on white bread, Yankee Pot Roast, you know, all those ethnic foods. Don't forget casserole. And Jello. And bars for desert.

Think about it. In a world where white males are tarred as evil, racist, misogynist scum, why wouldn't they team up? They do have a common culture -- one of being increasingly persecuted by the law, the press, and "conventional wisdom". This is turn will drive them straight into the arms of racists, who have been promulgating "white power" for years and years. The true tragedy of this is the oncoming point in time where many whites will see little to lose by acting out violently against the government system. I hope it never comes, but combining the tension at having to support a discriminatory government, your jobs being outsourced to foreigners, and your kids and wives and income taken away from you by law will eventually raise matters to a boiling point.

"Caucasians do not have a strong ethnic bondage similar to blacks or Hispanics."
What planet do you reside on? I am White, I am proud to be White. If given a choice, I would on pain of death never be any other race (fill in the blank) than White.
I know it was Whites who founded and made this country, (au contraire to the commie revisionists and new speak history as it may evolve on any given day to please a targeted audience for vote pandering) America would not, nor could not exist, except for those Whites who gave all for it's birth. If liberals would have been in power, that birth would have been aborted then, and even today, they still seek a bloody late term abortion of America's true national heritage.
If perhaps you and some others do not agree, then go pound sand, for I give not a tinker's damn as to your thoughts on the matter.

I don't think this will work, at least not until they resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute...the Armenians and Azeris don't get along too well, and the Georgians are having trouble with the Abkhazis. And what about the Circassians, Ossetians, Dagestanis, Chechens, etc.--are they eligible to join too?

Amen to all you said!! Perfect. If it wasn't for whites, there would be no America offering freedoms to these people to spout their bigotry.
At my last job I watched my boss traipse off to her Society of Black Engineers meetings. And then there was the Society of Black Human Resources thing. Please!!! The "white folk" were not allowed to have corresponding organizations. What's up with that? More power to this girl; I hope she starts a revival of sorts in this country.

I don't understand your ranting about race.
My whole point is about ethnicity, not race.
Do you know the difference?
An ethnic club can provide a strong bond for a group of people to meet on a regular bases; for instance, a hispanic club attracks people of different races, including whites. The common bond is an ethnicity, not a race.
Similarly, Caucasians join clubs based on ethnicity, such as a German-American club or the Danish-American Chamber of Commerce.
My whole point is that this Caucasian club seems to a cry for attention, with a short shelf life.

Do you have to be from the Caucasus to join?? Do you mean like the Iowa Caucus?

Caucasians do not have a strong ethnic bondage similar to blacks or Hispanics.Speak for yourself...I have a strong bond with my European-American brothers and sisters. Our ancestors created the greatest nation in the history of the world which was an amalgamation of the greatest cultures from the motherland in Europe. The term "Hispanic" is a real misnomer as a mayan/aztec descent Mexican has little in common (except language) with the 1959-1960 era Cuban refugees who were more Spanish descent white folks. And you noticed that it was those Spanish descent Cubans who held the line for Bush in Dade county during the election debacle, acting like a bunch of suburban white folks...meanwhile in California Bush was trounced with a heavy turnout of Mexican-American hispanics most of whom are of Indian descent.

I don't have any strong bond with you.
I'd rather spend time visiting a ethnic club catering to my particular ethnic heritage than with a generic Caucasian club.
To: george wythe
I don't think that the point this young lady is trying to make, is to form a club that would have little central purpose. I think she's trying to make a point about the separatist side of the exisiting groups. The fact that she's gathering support to submit it to the principal is a sign that she's trying to shine a spotlight on the current rationale for clubs. It's one thing to have clubs that support activities that are chosen, and another to have clubs based on what you cannot change.
Call her a troublemaker, if you like, but most social change is caused by such people. Maybe she's trying to make a point to get into a good college, it will likely backfire, but I'd send ten bucks to her scholorship fund.
