Fawnn, you just reminded me of another favorite duo of mine when you mentioned "mockingbirds humming." How about some Seals and Crofts, Mojo? THANK YOU!

Mojo, have you ever heard of the group Kalapana? Another old favorite of mine.

I went to Target after work to buy a cooler for the ice - just in case we lose the electricity. I don't want my food to spoil. Also was planning to buy some water but they ran out of it! I already stacked up but I wanted to buy more just in case. So, I'm getting all my pots and pans ready - I need to shampoo my hair at least, no? LOL!

Bobby school has been cancelled THursday and Friday. And he will be getting an early dismissal from school tomorrow.

I hope I'm not having a brain fart, and that Bobby is "Bob" and not your son's REAL name! So, going on the assumption that Bobby IS "Bob" and that your son is still waiting to hear about his school:

It sounds to me like the school administrators like "Bob" more than all of those other kids!

(Geez: The preface for this post was longer by far than the post itself!) ;)

It'd probably be mean to tell your son: "I'm sorry dear, but due to budget cutbacks, once your school bought the plywood, they realized they couldn't afford any nails. So they're not going to cancel school because they need all you kids to hold the plywood over the windows. ... But, don't worry. I'll let you wear your rain coat if you promise to be careful so you don't get any splinters in it."

Seriously: I'm praying for your and your family's safety!

The eye is not as well defined so maybe that portends a hurricane of lesser magnitude.

The people on the coast may already be seeing the "horses' tails".
These are high flying cirrus clouds that are sheared apart and pushed ahead of the storm. They look like the name implies.

The people on land have no problem telling from which direction the storm is coming, but on open water if you stand facing the wind and point to the right, that is the direction of the approaching storm.

I'm not a weather man. That's just practical knowledge from having been there.

When I still used to live in the Philippines, I experienced a lot of storms - we call them typhoons. Believe it or not, it never stopped us from going out. I remember having to drive from school and the normal 45 min drive home turned to about 3 - 4 hours. That was also driving through the flooded streets with the water threatening to enter the car. Another time, it was signal #3, schools and offices were closed and what did we do? We drove around the city looking for a place where we could hang out and drink some margaritas! And we did find one bar/restaurant that was opened. LOL! It was always an adventure but the traffic was such a pain.

Good Night Blessing for the Troops
Blessings on you this evening
May the stars in heaven
light your way into the
Milky Way of dreams

May your day tomorrow
be filled with love
laughter and joy...

Taking away all heart ache
left stinging...
and unclouding your vision
for clear sailing...

I'll take hurricanes any day over earthquakes!
The thought of the ground not being in the right place scares me to death!
I've seen 45' seas with rogue waves much higher.
That's pretty hairy, especially at night, but the thought of the ground moving is a whole different nightmare.

Caesar was lucky that CNN wasn't around

You can say that again! We are a lot more PC nowadays - I hate that term. Actually, things have changed and so the approach now had to be modified and as far as I am concerned, it is working. However, certain elements of the population will never come over to our side - they will fight us to the end no matter what.
