[history]
LOS ANGELES -- It was only last year that many state Republican Party activists were opting to back newcomer Bill Simon over former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan.
Though Riordan was widely considered the more electable of the two, he had consorted politically with Democrats for years, and Simon sided with the party's conservative activists on social issues. Their pick won the nomination only to lose the general election to Gov. Gray Davis.

I didn't know that Joni is actually a closet (R) lol
I'd give you some suggestions but I would be afraid you then might actually use them in a similar manner.

Lee and Melanie are hostile to Arnold's candidacy. Why would he want to return their calls? Lee Rodgers is ordinarily a cranky boor with guests he disagrees with. They can argue "public's right to know" and "journalistic imperatives" all they want, but they are hostile to Arnold's campaign. With him in constant demand, why should he go on a show where they'd try to bushwack him?
But I thought he wanted to be a unifier? He only picks battles he knows he can win, in other words. ;-)

But I thought he wanted to be a unifier? How can he unify people who refuse to be unified?

...elections should be about advancing ideas, not winning for its own sake...
With all due respect, ambrose, elections are about choosing individuals to represent the people of a given locality, district, county, state or nation. Except when we vote on initiatives rather than who should win a particular elective office, we do not elect ideas, we elect people. Each of us votes for a person who we believe comes closest to representing our point of view. If a majority of an electorate votes for the same person, he or she can carry those ideas into office and attempt to advance them via legislative or executive action. So, only in that indirect sense are elections about advancing ideas. Even in that sense, ideas cannot be advanced if the person espousing them does not win.

Saw Joni Mitchell do this under the stars with Tom Scott.
Out on the grass on a blanket with a lady and a bottle of wine.
Now the hit of '68 returns via doodlelady's L.A. Express.
What a rush.
Born Roberta Joan Anderson in Saskatchewan, Canada on November 7, 1943, she was stricken with polio at the age of nine; while recovering in a children's hospital, she began her performing career by singing to the other patients.
In '68 Arnold Schwarzenegger came to America, in due course passing a bipartisan initiative for the children.

LOL... That it is! A real E ticket ride at Disneyland,, too bad Gary Coleman isn't tall enough to ride it all the way!
I used to hate it when they had those height lines ? "You must be this tall to ride this ride. ;-)
The one characteristic that makes Rhinos unique is that they will get excited, charge a perceived threat or target and then forget why they are charging, stop and amble away.
What will Arnold do? What will he do? :-) LOL
