Arabic reads right to left, so it's known around here as the "DIE" stamp.

As memory has it, that stamp was initially issued ten days before the Muslims killed 3000 at the WTC.

I actually have some of those stamps - bought before 9-11-2001. Not that I will ever use them to send mail...

"Does anybody know if this is true?"

I can tell you what is true. If any postal clerk hands me this kind of crap, they'll instantly get it back.

In attempting to reasearch this at usps.gov, I came to the conclusion that a Muslim stamp was indeed issued prior to the 9-11-01 attack. I doubt that there will be a repeat of this screw-up in the foreseeable future.

I wasn't aware that the "Muslims" had perpetrated the crimes.

Actually more like two years behind. I think the first Eid stamp was issued just weeks before the WTC attacks.

And was total flop so to throw the Muslims a bone it was reissued a year later. I hope it was still a flop. Last thing I'm going to put on an envelope is a Muslim greeting.

Just an addendum.

"Eid" in Arabic just means "FESTIVAL." There are different "eids" through the year, commemorating different events. The most important is the Eid el Kebir (the "Great" Festival) which commemorates an event from the Hebrew Bible, Abraham's sacrifice and God sending an angel to spare his son.

Not sure which "Eid" the stamp refers to.

I figured it was intended to be a religous stamp like Christmas, etc. (I mentioned that before but thought I replay to you) :) Thank you very much
