However, you're right that it appears that women do not have an interest in sports. WUSA has a double whammy in that it is soccer. As much as I love the sport, it's not that big here in the states.People watch womens' sports on an occasional basis. They'll gear up for a World Championship, for the Olympic Games, and for a highly promoted match against a powerful international contender (like China), but on a week by week basis people (i.e., women) aren't overly interested in the Kentucky Derbyettes playing the New Orleans Jasmines (the names were changed to protect the innocent).
The point is that the market for womens' sports leagues is small, despite years and years of promotion, and unless someone figures out a way to turn this small fan base into a rabidly loyal fan base the leagues will continue to start up and fail on a regular basis.

Hey, I resemble

Sad to see it go. It was the only women's sport I ever watched. I can't name a player in the MLS but I could name a few in WUSA. My idea to make women's sports viable would be to tie it to the Men's sport. Have a game before the Men's game like we did in high school with the JV teams. This way they get a crowd, build some fan base and provide pregame entertainment. Just a thought.

I hope to see WUSA make a return, but it today's economic climate I don't see it happening any time soonWell, people are wary about what they invest money in now. A few years from now we might see another women's soccer league start up, but they're going to have to do something to broaden the fan base or they'll be DOA.

Unfortunately, the liberals may be happy just to screw it up for everyone. Kinda like our country!
