Generally, what is your impression of him?

After Abraham Lincoln beat William Seward for the nomination, Seward sent his close political ally of three decades, Thurlow Weed, to Springfield to check him out. Upon returning to New York, Weed looked Seward in the eye and said: "Abraham Lincoln is the best man I ever met."
