TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 9/15/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)

Posted on 09/15/2003 5:32:45 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

Please post local, regional, national news and views on Tom McClintock. This is a news and info thread. The following guidelines for posting are per DoughtyOne's most excellent suggestion.

McClintock Camp - Supporters or Defenders

Please post positive articles about Tom's policies and leave the Schwarzenegger bashing to the Democrats.

Schwarzenegger Camp - Supporters or Defenders

The call for McClintock to withdraw right now, or the tactic of calling him and his followers names for not doing so, is not productive and isn't good for the party.

Please save the Rino Arnold/Unelectable Tom rants for other threads.

He traces his conservative views to the day he came home from school to find his mother crying because taxes had wiped out the family's savings.

I just read an article in Kiplinger's magazine about a family who now has a huge tax bill because of the AMT that they cannot pay. The stock options that triggered the AMT are now near-worthless, yet the AMT says they owe upwards of $100,000. A crime!! I'll see if I can find the article on line.

Alternative Minimum Tax... a tax which was intended to keep extremely wealthy people from avoiding income tax due to high deductions and tax shelters.

Because the AMT was never indexed for inflation, and because many companies are now giving rank-and-file employees stock options (it used to be just top executives would get them), more and more people are getting stuck with tax bills much higher than they expected (and in many cases - much higher than they could ever afford).

I see the media had no problem with the Dimwit Davis and Bubba campaigning at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in LA yesterday...And from what I hear Wolfie on CNN cut away to the church on more than one occasion to Bubba speaking...but not one word of criticism from Wolfie...It's only against the law if anyone but a Dimwit does it!

I have heard of alternative minimum taxes, but I did not recognize the acronymn AMT. Yes, the AMT then is another example of liberal government gone amuck, with or without Democrats nominally in charge.

Here's a quote for ya from a Washington Times article in today's paper.

Former President Bill Clinton yesterday made a plea on behalf of Gov. Gray Davis at a black church in Los Angeles while several former state Republican Party chairmen agreed to endorse actor Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor.

Mr. Clinton received roaring approval from the black congregation during an address at the First AME Church in South Central Los Angeles.

"You know you're supposed to be humble in church," he told the congregation. "You need to calm down. You'll have me thinking I'm president again if you don't calm down."

Well just like a black conservative minister in San Diego said on the Mark Larson radio show this am..."you know the Democrats are desperate when they show up at a black church looking for votes"...when will the blacks ever realize that the Dimwit Party has been taking them for a ride...The Dimwits keep blacks on welfare, drugs, broken homes, uneducated, unemployed and they will never get off the government dole and a guaranteed Dimwit voter...

The desperation of some candidates is evident. One candidate visits with Oprah today, a Kennedy at his side.

It will be a tearful, enthralling exhibit of self-serving pandering to soccer moms and those easily swayed by soundbites, buzzwords and celebrity.

My wife will probably not watch Oprah today, which she all too frequently does, to my dismay. She didn't even watch George Bush when he was invited on in 2000, but she voted for him in the end, which is what really counts.

So get your Orville Reddenbacher popped and prepare to be entertained... amused... and pandered to. Yup, the modern age media and those who would tug at heartstrings will be on full display today on Oprah.

Ya got to love your fellow man but you don't have to condone his actions nor the feeding of an ego or a furthering of the slide of society down the slippery slopes of liberalism... all in the name of doing it for the children.

Thanks for the thread. I see some of the stalwarts have already been here and exhibited their meanness. Oh well, It's a FRee country and an open forum... open, which is something we should all allow our minds to be until the race to the polling places is finally at hand.

Judge the candidates on what they say, not who backs them or associates with them or endorses them. Let your agenda be to listen your conscience and you will have been successful and truthful to your ideals and your cause, something the CA GOP has sadly fallen short of , of late..

Anything less is a travesty... and a slap in the face of all the children.

The 9th Circus has halted the recall election (until March '04?). What are the repercussions for McClintock?

1) This will give voters longer to figure out what a numbskull (R)nold is. More debates?
2) McClintock will have more time to campaign, and build name recognition.
3) BustaMeCHA will lose votes?

What else?

Look at a couple of the articles I posted about Latinos and Busty earlier today.

The latest developments are actually positive all the way around for a conservative like Tom to win.

Rnulled blew his both own feet off on Oprah, and Busty is despised by many , many of his "own".

While Davi$ revels in Bill's shadowy appearances, they are the death knell of him as well, imo.

Man, If I was Tom, this is a most momentous day, all the way around.

Let the media and Rnulled , Davi$ and Cruz folks spin this. LOL

And , for dessert, Wednesday night ... LMAO,,, I can't wait! ;-)
