John Kerry - "Anticipation"-Carly Simon
Howard Dean - "They're Coming to Take Me Away"-Napoleon XIV
Joe Lieberman - "McArthur Park" - The Annoying William Shatner Version (I just imagine a convention center with all the energy sucked out of the room, as the song plays it's full seven minutes and then...Joe speaks...)
Al Sharpton - "How Could you Believe me when I said I Loved you, When you Know I've been a Liar all my Life?"
Dick Gephardt - anything by "The Dead Milkman"

Dennis Kucinich - "Bad Year" -The Monkey Boys (Sicko Album) Lyrics:

Bad Year
I don't need this anymore
the curse of '94 strikes again
killing hopes and things and people
stop, stop you're killing me
and I tried so desperately to escape it
suck days ahead I think I'll stay in bed
Life's the same
I guess everything's going okay
I've got to go now
I've run out of cute things to say
I don't mean to sound so insincere
I'm having a bad year

And I'm glad to say goodbye
but I'll never wonder why this year happened
luck comes and goes sooner or later
wait, wait for it to stop
'cause I'm not just gonna drop out of being
for one bad year that was just leaving

Hillary Clinton - "Starry Night(Vincent)"-Don McLean

Bob Graham - "Fruitcakes" - Jimmy Buffet

"Gypsies Tramps & Thieves" by Cher. It's on her Farewell tour cd. :)

I remember my father playing that on the radio when I was a kid. I'll never forget the lyric:

Every night all the men would come around...and lay the money DOWN!!!!

For the Breck Girl, John Edwards, don't forget HAIR...from the musical.

HAIR is appropriate for the French looking candidate Kerry as well.....

Hmm... here's my effort so far for a California song parody [anyone figure out the tune? It's probably the most unimaginatively-titled sequel of the nineteenth century.]
[work in progress]

(1)
Californ-i-a once was a beautiful state,
It's the land from which Ronald Reagan came.
But the cra-zi-ness there from the gov'nor of late
puts the state's former glo-ry to shame.

Now the governor there, thinks that life should be "fair"
and the state should subsidize all the poor.
So the tax rates go up--take take take take take take take take--
yes the tax rates go up more and more.

(chorus)
What will become of the state?
Will we become all we deplore?
As our tax rates go up--take take take take take take take take--
as our tax rates go up more and more.

(2)
There's a new guy in town called the gov-er-na-tor
he has plans to restore some sa-ni-ty.
But first he must win a big e-lect-ti-on.
Can he do it? We'll just have to see.

But between now and then, 'nother billion or ten
will be spent ere we show Davis the door.
Still the tax rates go up--take take take take take take take take--
Still the tax rates go up more and more.

(repeat chorus)

So far seems okay. A little slow in getting 'to the point' but I think the meter and rhymes, including some nice internal onces, are working pretty well. I'm not sure "take" is the optimal repetition word for the ends of the verses and chorus, but I can't think of anything else that works there musically [original word was "tick"]. The original song had four verses, which seems like it may be right for the parody too. Anyone else like it?

Actually that song would make a great theme song for Al Franken the next time he has a shaking fit on camera.

And thank you for what you are doing for our country :-)
