She's going to use your wonderfully written piece in her Diversity class. Actually Sheila Jackson Lee, representative from Houston, made a plane wait for her while she was running late. At first I thought the story was about her.Sheesh, that one very special queen bee, one of many in the ruling class, she demands her interns have a car waiting around for hours, just to drive her 1 block to work in the Crapital.

That's crap. Many employers give preference to veterans, as they show a greater level of discipline and commitment.
Of course, on one point you may be slightly right - it may or may not matter whether the enlistment was peacetime or wartime.
Maybe a little self-reflection on the part of the person looking for work will show poor interviewing skills, etc.
