Sad story.

What should be done in such an instance?

This is a tragedy we see too often. But would it have been any less tragic had the kid been left to die in a Eco-friendly electric car? What does the type of car have to do with the crime the mother committed? Or did the press just cynically use this as another opportunity to bash SUVs?

The 30 year old mother accidently left her two month old son Hunter in the back seat of her SUV for eight hours, on one of the hottest days of the year.

ACCIDENTLY!!! OMG. 2 months old!! 2 months old... Oh my word.

I say the penality should be 10 years and a hystorectomy. People like her should not have children.

How can can mama be so into herself not to be aware of her baby? Where her new 2 month old baby is and just thinking about him? I'm no shrink but this is egomania to the nth degree. Animals is the wild are more concerned with their offspring.

this appears to have been an accident. yes, it was stupid or neglectful or crazily disorganized, but i don't think she did it on purpose. if it was accidental, and not intentional, i think we should pray for the entire family, not rush to judgement.

I'm not a parent. But I'm 42 and I've been a hardworking professional since I was 21. I'm a tired and overworked and female. I can see myself doing something like this. I'm sorry that this keeps happening, but I can see how it happens.

In the Rauld Dahl book and movie, Matilda, the parents come home from the hospital with her as a newborn and forget and leave her in the car. It's downhill from their.

That poor, dear baby. I can't comprehend this either. When I was leaving my babies anywhere, it was with a heavy heart. In 10 years, I've never forgotten them anywhere.

It really isn't hard to remember them even when they're asleep in the back seat. All it takes is putting the baby gear in the front seat alongside the computer case, purse, and other adult gear. For the hopelessly forgetful, this is a simple precaution.

I'll bet she remembered to bring her purse in.

How, I ask you, how can a mother forget her child in the car.

Jeez, if I have my dog in the car with me and run into 7-11 for a pack of smokes, I'm an impatient wreck until the clerk rings me up and I can get the air conditioning back on for her.

She had an interesting job, an SUV, two children with "substantial names"... Forest and Hunter... and then one day she was so wrapped up in all of the bliss that is her life, that she forgot to take the child out of the car. I wonder if she has ever forgotten her appointment with the manicurist?

I have forgotten things in my life; a doctor's appointment, parent teacher conference, where I put my keys/cell phone. But I would/could never forget my child!! This is pure stupid for a mother to forget an infant in the car for an entire work shift!!

Thanks for posting.

This is happening too many times to be 'accidental'. Sick as it is, my guess is that the car method of late term abortion is increasingly in vogue with members of the culture of death.

Watch for NOW to push for a wymins' right to do what she wants with her own offspring, without consequence, of course.
