Dems have embedded the "FAIRNESS" DOCTINE in the anti-FCC ruling bill.--The DEATH of talk radio!!!
Save Talk Radio!!! ^
Posted on 09/12/2003 4:18:39 PM PDT by Capitalism2003
Rush and Hannity were both plugging this site today, urging their listeners to visit and help them out.
The legislation coming up this month that will reverse the recent FCC decision ALSO CONTAINS THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE!!!!!!!
The dems are hiding it deep within the bill, and many Republicans, either not knowing, or not caring...PLAN TO SIGN IT!! In their desire to reverse the FCC ruling, they will ALSO be bringing back the fairness doctrine...which will be the DEATHBLOW to conservative talk radio.
The democrats have been drooling over the prospect of this happening for years. If the lefties and RINOs in congress have their way, it looks like we will have a MANDATORY six hours of Al Franken/Alan Colmes/Elanor Clift, etc etc to balance out the Rush and Hannity shows. Democrats can't compete so they must force their viewpoint on an audience that doesn't want to hear it! Talk radio is the ONLY news outlet not controlled by the liberal elites, and if they have their way, we will be losing radio too. .
THIS IS IMPORTANT!
http://www.stopmediaregulation.com
If we fail, there will be a MANDATORY one-hour time slot of liberal radio to counter every hour of conservative talk on the air. 3 hours of liberal radio to balance Hannity...a MANDATORY 3 hours of liberal radio to balance Rush...Virtually every other conservative show will be required to have a balancing show afterwards, OR a liberal viewpoint 50% of the time. Imagine!! Unless you want to hear Alan Colmes/Al Franken/Elanor Clift/Nancy Skinner during the time slots of your favorite shows, you MUST visit this site and let your voice be heard.
It literally takes less than 30 seconds to get the job done. Please take the time out to do this, and pass it along to your friends/family/co-workers.

Folks, simply enter your zip code in the top right corner, and you will be able to instantly blast an email to all of your congressional representatives AND your two senators. Very easy and fast...We need to counter moveon.org and their 400,000 emails in favor of the fairness doctrine.

Fairness of what?
To limit free popular speech on talk radio?
Do the libs really think they'll get away with this? I smell a Supreme Court decision in the works if this bill is signed.

There may be a silver lining if by some remote chance this is passed...we'll get 1 hour of conservative TV for every hour of liberal-drivel television!

Can't Bush just veto the bill?

Problem is, the networks don't think they are liberal! With talk radio, the intentions of the hosts are obvious, but ABC/CBS/NBC run liberal editorial stories as hard 'news', so it will be very hard to force equal time on them. And I think NPR and PBS will be exempt from the doctrine because they aren't private entities--They can keep spewing taxpayer funded left wing rhetoric without bound...while the few businesses that enjoy a conservative audience will be forced to lose listeners and play what people don't want to hear!

The GOP in congress claim they are 40 votes short of being able to sustain a presidential veto. Too many RINOs are going to vote for this just to repeal the FCC ruling...The fairness doctrine will just be a side effect of the bill passing. We must stop it.

And just who or what will define conservative vs. liberal? And what about a moderate? Will they be required to give time to the right and the left also?
These people are morons.

A fairness doctrine would hinder free speech, the Supremes would have to strike this down.

To do this correctly we NEED the Bill number, resolution number, the Official name, originator, signers on, etc etc.
You must reference these bills.

I'll tell you what, if the Republcians are stupid enough to let this pass, and if Bush doesn't have the gonads to veto it to a well deserved death if it does, then I'm through voting Republican. I mean, how in the name of everthing holy can this crock of #### pass a Republican majority Congress???

Can't Bush just veto the bill? You're assuming Bush is a conservative...

So the NYTimes will have to print a "conservative edition". Of course not, I'm sure it doesn't work both ways.

So, who gets to decide what is or isn't conservative or liberal. How about Dan Rather? Do we get 3o minutes of a conservative viewpoint for every half hour of cbs news?
I got a better idea: I dumped TV 6 years ago, and talk radio seven months ago. It changed my life for the better. I get my news off the internet and it is ALL pulled.
