Whoa there! I didn't say that, I was explaining what the other guy was trying to say! Lightin' up! :)

straight line, let's see what happens. If you (and many others on FreeRepublic) were correct in their assumptions about what sex I really am, then one of the figures in that picture would need to be changed. And, by so being, the picture would no longer be suitable for posting in a family FreeRepublic ;)

Good fight! Shall we go another 15 rounds, or be amicable in our disagreement? I'm up for either!
BTW, do I understand you live in Fla.?
If so, be safe...that Hurricane's going to be a beeyotch if it hits you.

The Dixie Chicks haven't. . . yet.
But just watch the Today show. Matt Lauer and Katie Couric have repeatedly and unchrateristically been singing the praises of Tom. So has Alan Colmes, on Hannity & Clomes. He even had Geraldine Ferrarro on the other night and they were BOTH saying that conservatives should vote for Tom.
Do you know why? Because Tom can't garner a majority of the moderate votes like Arnold can and they know it. Considering that Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans in California by nearly 1.4 million people you need a candidate with broad appeal that can attract the middle.
Of course it seems that many McClintock supporters are unwilling to come to terms with that fact.

I asked you if Arnold or the author was lying in #181:
This is a joke and you are defending it! Arnold himself said he was a social liberal. Was he lying? Or is the author lying - a supporter of Arnold?
Then in #199 you said I that I said Arnold was lying:
It is a logical fallacy to make a blanket claim that Arnold was lying because of another person's opinion.
NOT THAT I LIED but that I said Arnold LIED WHICH I DID NOT. That is a lie I never made a blanket claim that Arnold was lying.
Now please retract and apologize or prove where I make a blanket claim that Arnold was lying as you stated in #199.

Perhaps you aren't as big an authority on these matters as you suppose?

You "suppose" too much.

I do? -- You are a big authority? Wow!

I aplogize - I am just getting sick of being lied about and words being added or changed from my original posts.
This whole thing is stupid and Arnold is going to lose becuase Arnold supporters are burning the bridges to Tom supporters who are willing to change their votes on election day.

Whoa there! I didn't say that, I was explaining what the other guy was trying to say! Some posters to this thread have been pitching a temper tantrum for quite some time now. If they were an infant, I'd know what to do - make up a warm bottle of milk and lay them down for a nap. FR being a text-based medium though, laughing at them seems to be the best policy.

A reasonable argument! Thank you.
I think the point that the writer is trying to make is that sometimes those who do not share beliefs with social conservatives, i.e. Giuliani, Condi Rice, and Colin Powell, or who have skeletons in their personal lives, can still have traits of character that serve traditional social conservatives well.
David Bonior is pro-life, as was Dennis Kucinich until 5 minutes ago. I am so glad that we have Powell as Secretary of State now instead of either one of them.
Just as I am relieved that Giuliani was mayor of New York two years ago instead of a weaker individual who might have been more "conservative."
I certainly don't agree with the writer on every point, but I did think that the article was thought-provoking and worth discussion.

What do you want?
I know it is stupid.
I asked if the author or Arnold was lying - Becuase the author says Arnold is a Socila conservative and Arnold has said he was a Social Liberal.
Strela then said that I was "making a blanket claim that Arnold was lying in #199.
Well I NEVER said Arnold was lying - I asked which one was - BOTH cannot be right.
