After weeks of pressure to drop out of the recall race, state Sen. Tom McClintock is about to feel the pinch in an unlikely place: a gathering of faithful Republicans who agree with him about issues and revere him as one of the party's truest members.

No, Arnold should by no means drop out. He's McClintock's only chance for a victory. His presence means a substantial split in the liberal vote that otherwise would congeal around Bustamante as an all-or-nothing strategy.

Too bad you took the "whining" comment personally. Not lookin' to pick a fight with a Biker on F.R.

So I don't have a state flag on my homepage...yikes. What does "sac" and where you're from have to do with one another?

Let's see the basic ideals of the Republican party give me the right.

Republicans ARE conservative whether you like it or not. It points to the stances we take on positions.

Pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-illegal, pro-tax are not Republican positions no matter what you say.

If you can't see that then maybe you should think about your political affiliations.

People forget about the Democratic majority voting block that existed in the US Congress from roughly 1958 thru 1980. The liberal power and influence was enormous across the nation and elected conservatives were few and far between. But we conservatives stuck by our principles and elected more conservatives and moderate conservatives to elected office. Finally we broke the power and influence of the liberal Democrats in Congress. With the help of Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh and several other voices of principled conservative reason.

No one is saying that the situation in California tends to favor conservative Republicans, but supporting Arnold is nothing more then caving in to your principles. Republicans shouldn't be voting for liberals. That's a defeatist position.

"Ohio, if thats where you're from"

You brought it up first as though I'm pretending to be from somewhere I'm not.

Moderate republicans are not pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-illegal and pro-tax.

A moderate may choose one of those but certainly not all four.

Arnold will win even if McClintock stays in.

He very likely could. Busty is not making any advances, his negatives are off the board.

In the end, I am concerned of how Arnold would govern.

"Almost all of us are closer to McClintock in ideology than Schwarzen-egger, but we lost every election last time, and we ought to learn something from that," said James DeMartini, central committee chairman for Stanislaus County and a member of the party's executive board.

Well freaking DUH!!!!

>>>Too many touchy-feely types in Calif. now.

And too many wishy-washy types in California these days and here on FreeRepublic. Winning isn't everything. At least not if it means electing a liberal Republican the next governor of California.

Some of you have to lose that idea that all Republicans have to be conservative or you all are going continue to cost Republicans more elections.

If my goal is the advance of conservatism, why would I "lost that idea"? I'm not blindly rooting for a sports franchise here - I'm taking a principled stand.

There are people who are Republicans and there are people who call themselves Republicans, Rino's. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Mike Bloomberg calls himself a Republican and ran as one, he is not a Republican. He is using small minded voters to advance his core liberal beliefs as an Imposter. Arnold is an IMPOSTER. Some people here echo his core liberal, evil beliefs. That is sad.

Make no mistake. He with his UBER Liberal buddies will infect the party into a mirror of the Clinton Dream.

Arnold has always been a registered Republican. He supported and worked with Pres Reagan.

It's almost IMPOSSIBLE for the McClintock supporters to slander and demonize Arnold when you mention things like that. PLEASE don't upset the McPerots with facts!!!

Identifying the stance that Arnold has taken on these issues is propoganda?

You people are losing it, completely losing it.

"registered Republican"

As we have pointed out. Saying you're something and being it are two different things.

Ed Koch would like to "horsewhip" all of President Bush's detractors. So by your reasoning because he supports the president it makes him a republican.

How cute.

>>>You can say Arnold is not a conservative but you cannot say he is not a Republican.

Oh yes I can and I will! And here are the facts to dispute your contention that Arnold is anything but a liberal (RINO) Republican.

Many people call Arnold Schwarzenegger a moderate Republican. He calls himself, a social liberal and fiscal conservative. There's nothing conservative or moderate about Arnold.

*Arnold doesn't back tax cuts and spending cuts, which is part of the GOP agenda. In fact, he can't even produce his economic recovery plan for California, until after the recall election. The obvious reason for this is simple. Arnold has no economic recovery plan for California.

*Arnold has never indicated support for the basic tenets of fiscal conservatism, tax cuts and spending cuts. Nor has Arnold mentioned anything about supporting supply side economics, or "Reaganomics".

*Arnold doesn't back the pro-life position of the GOP platform. Arnold is pro-abortion and that is in direct opposition to the GOP platform.

*Arnold told Bill O'Reilly the other night, that he doesn't understand the issue of border security and how it relates to militarizing the borders, in order to stop illegal immigration and possible terrorists from entering the US.

*Arnold wants more gun control legislation for California.

*Arnold supports special rights for homosexuals.

*Arnold opposes Prop54.

*Arnold hired a BIG-TIME liberal Democrat, to test the the waters for increasing California property taxes and promptly got his head handed to him on a silver platter.

*Arnold says, he wants to bring businesses back to California to increase state tax revenues, thereby, getting California out of the red. He says this will improve the states social welfare programs and allow them to recieve the proper funding needed to run more efficiently. Yeah. Give the people what they want. Social welfare entitlements. That's not a conservative talking. That's high minded liberal talk.

*Arnold doesn't support oil drilling off the California coast, nor does he support drilling in ANWR either.

*Arnold won't even debate his opponents. He is running from the debates and instead goes on with Bill O'Reilly for a softball interview.

These are Arnold's positions on the issues. They're not in agreement with the conservative Republican agenda and the GOP platform. Arnold is a liberal (RINO) Republican and seemingly, an empty suit to boot.
