...and, finally, a morally relativist refusal to see Saddam, al Qaeda, or Kim Jong Il as forces of evil.

Bill Clinton has much more in common with Kim Jong, OBL, Saddam than he has with any poster on this thread. A criminal is not a moral relativist.

Great post.

As Clinton confronted the Oklahoma City bombing, with its 168 deaths, it became increasingly clear that he was more comfortable offering America spiritual leadership in the struggle to find meaning in the piles of rubble than he was in taking practical steps to thwart future attacks.

Though it goes unmentioned, the fact is that as a leftist Bill Clinton felt very comfortable in condemning an alleged "right wing" bomber and at least hinting that conservative talk radio inspired it.

How could the DOJ, FBI and CIA find time to hunt terrorists when they were all being used to keep BJ from being convicted??

Vietnam fell, and no other domino keeled over. Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines-all supposed further casualties of a failure to stop communism in Vietnam-survived our defeat just fine.

I must sound a note of disagreement here. Morris fails to mention Cambodia and South Vietnam, both of whom suffered millions slaughtered almost the instant we pulled out.

I was just reading about Clinton not making one of his tearful, lip-biting appearances at the first World Trade Center bombing. I don't think he perfected that schtick til the Oklahoma City bombing, and then he was desperate for reelection.

Good post Jerrybob, thanks.

Morris mentions February 26, 1993, the first World Trade Center terrorist attack, and Sheikh Rahman, who was found guilty of planning it. Which reminded me of Rahman's lawyer, Lynne Stewart. "Stewart was convicted on all five charges she faced--including "providing material support" to terrorism, conspiracy to abet terrorism, and lying to the government about her actions. She faces up to 30 years in prison"

http://www.nationalreview.com/york/york200502170843.asp

"Soros Funded Stewart Defense
The anti-Bush billionaire supported lawyer who aided terrorists.

Billionaire financier George Soros, whose opposition to President Bush's conduct of the war on terror caused him to pour millions of dollars into the effort to defeat the president, made a substantial donation to the defense fund for radical lawyer Lynne Stewart, who last week was found guilty of giving aid to Islamic terrorists...."

Thanks for finding this. It's going to be interesting with the Able Danger allegations.

"during the trial, because it was a CRIMINAL CASE, the "defense" was entitled to ALL discovery about the case"

Excellent point, I'm sure the Islamo-fascists have gained all sorts of invaluable knowledge, about the WTC and lots of other things, via the 'discovery' process of such trials. I think that's one big reason the administration has insisted upon the "enemy combatant" status for many captured terrorists, rather than bring them into the civilian criminal justice system which affords them all sorts of rights and protections they don't deserve. I know there are a lot of ACLU-types for whom it's an article of faith that every last Al Qaeda scumbag must be afforded an OJ-type defense team, but I say it's a WAR, the 'rights' of terrorists are non-existent, and we will handle it in a way that protects OUR rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
