Tampa area FReepers: What do you make of the media's coverage of the fatal Yerrid car crash?
tbo.com, MSNBC local ^ | Sept 13 2003 (hey, that's what it says at the local MSNBC site) | Brad Smith

First I've heard about this. (Okay, I dont' subscribe to Times/Trib/Planet.) In the pre-'96 days, the Trib would've highlighted this. Now, of course, since the 16-year-old in question isn't Jeb's son or daughter, it's in the back pages. I think Sgt. Bradley is going to regret not hiring a local attorney to obtain some justice, but I guess we'll see. What is most interesting to me from the article is "comraderie" between tobacco-tort lawyer Yerrid and state atty Ober (whom the "conservative" Trib editorialists endorsed for state atty). Ober, as Tampans remember, replaced the late Harry Lee Coe, whom the local French-sounding media absolutely detested. (Coe committed suicide aftet a media campaign.) Thoughts, Bay area citizens?

Article is entitled "Fatal Car Crash Leads to Questions About Money." Nothing in title about son of prominent tobacco-tort attorney. Go figure...

Wasn't Ober the rocket scientist who spent nearly $1,000,000.00 of taxpayer money in a wildly unsuccessful attempt to put a D.J., Bubba The Love Sponge, in jail for having a pig-roast?

Bubba talked about him a LOT on his show...seems he's a charter member of the "good 'ol boy" network down there. He's also declined to prosecute some serious crimes, and ignored others.

I doubt any charges will be filed. Though they should be.
His chances of serving any prison time are the same as the sun rising in the west.
