Farewell
We all know that boy named Sue, And heard that train a comin. We all loved his craggy voice, And the guitar he was strummin. We'll miss ol John but he'll be here, We'll hear him in our hearts. He's gone home to be with June, And now the music starts.

The horns make my hair stand on end.Mine too. I'm from South Texas, and while Johnny's music has always been among my favorites, the touch of mariachi for that tune was especially tasteful and meaningful to me.
Johnny was extremely talented. He was cut from a totally different piece of cloth, and having grown up listening to him, I'm going to miss him and his music.

Re: "Hurt"
I've had the CD for a while now, but only saw the video for the first time a couple weeks ago.
The song was haunting enough already; when I saw the video, it actually gave me chills.

I'll be at the Karaoke bar Sunday night. They have a live band tonight and Sat night.

Thank you, Flurry. Mr. Cash was an American original and always true to his music.

Thanks. I feel the same way I felt when Buddy Holly left us but I was only 5 then. Johnny's songs are playing in my head with a deafening volume. I kind of like the mental distraction.

I saw him at a Nashville gun show back in the '80's. It was after his heart surgery and we were all waiting to go into one of the buildings. It was raining and he was talking with someone and the only thing I could think about was, here was a guy who was a hero/celebrity getting soaked with the rest of us.
He could have had all the comforts just by asking and there he was looking old, sick and wet.
I asked whether he was into firearms and someone said he had an interest in gun antiquities.
It was my understanding that people who lived in Nashville didn't bother their stars since this was their home and not their stage so I didn't approach him or wave.

It's my favorite Johnny Cash song, the horns are a big reason.
